Vision ward trinket/item or new item slot for consumables

Why isn't there an item or trinket for vision wards? I just had a long game with an enemy Akali and Shaco so vision wards were practically necessary but I had to chose between the wards and full build. Buying the wards helps immensely in team fights but hinders my own stats from being out of an item. At the end of the game I had almost 3k gold sitting there unused with only 5 items because I deemed it necessary to have the wards instead of an item.

Some solutions I can think of is reintroduce the ability to purchase a trinket upgrade to carry vision wards, make a new slot specifically for consumables like wards, potions, and elixirs, or make an item similar to sightstone that gives health which is a relevant stat for every build. Even if it was just a health item like giant's belt that didn't refill but just shared an item slot with wards I would be happy.

If Riot's view of counterplay for champs like Rengar, Shaco, Akali, and Evelyn is the ability to purchase pink wards then shouldn't we still be able to achieve full build to rival their full builds and still have pink wards?
