Question about Rank Shielding

HOW DOES SHIELDING WORK? Temporary shields will stop players from dropping into a lower tier immediately after promotion. You will be shielded from demotion for the next 3 games if you advance a division. If you advance a tier, you will be shielded for 10 games (3 games for Master Tier). Furthermore, if you are in danger of being demoted to a lower tier, you will receive a warning in your summoner profile.

Does this apply for end of provisions? If you got gold 5, do you obtain the 10 game shield? What about for SIlver 1, do you get the 3 game shield?

You can't drop tiers (i.e. you cant go to silver from gold or from silver to bronze). You get ~3 games of shielding every time you move up a division.

What do the FAQs mean then?
