PAUSE

There should be a pause in the game. Riot should make a pre 20:00 majority vote for a 5 minute pause. I think this would help a lot with games being lost to dc and give time for people to log back in. Also if people really need to cough bio. Does this make sense?

/pause

ftw

% minutes is a really long time for this kind of game, and might be over doing it. other than that I like the idea of letting us normal people use a pause, and gating it with a vote would make it so people couldn't troll too much with it.

Sadly, most people don't dc at the same time. It would be hella lame for someone to want to pause for 5 mins every time someone dc's. If you only get one pause, 1/2 the people wouldn't agree unless their team member was dc'ed. As far as bio, if you have to crap, do it before you q. If you have to take a p, wait for a death or gate then take a minute to p. No reason imo to stop the game for 5 minutes. If you can't plan out a 30-60 minute block of time, idk what to say....

edit- I could see adding an option to pause for 5 minutes once the game has exceeded 60 minutes but even then, chances are if it has gone on that long, it will be over any minute anyhow. Pausing can really kill a game, momentum etc. Look at how much a timeout can change the pace of a football game.

I think most people on both sides of a team would rather have a good 5v5 then a 4v5 with a adc that joins 3 minutes late, gets killed, and rage quits. its not satisfying for the winners or for the losers- how many times i've heard "its not even fun anymore" or "waste of 20" in 4v5 situations? a 1 or 2 minute pause option seems good; it could be tactical as they say but hey, the other team has it as well. in a pub game (maybe no pause in ranked?) i think this is worth the cons; in competitive games perhaps not.

I think a shorter 3 minute pause would be more in order. Or even multiple 2 minute pauses. Drop the 20 minute limit. It'd be nice for things like 1-2 year old son just cut his finger, mailman requires a signature, about to vomit, just sneezed all over my shirt, got a nose bleed, router overheated, DNS cut your net for a minute or two, planning out your strategy as a team, picking who to focus & why, starving, computer / network is running slow and you need to run a diagnostic or turn off another computer in your household, Mother pulled Ethernet line, Girlfriend is rampaging, and/or Hospital / Doctor / Dentist is calling for an appointment reminder. Granted you can always do these things after you die, but that means your coping with them during that waiting period. The pause should take place after a few second warm up period and go on cool down afterwards (Think season 4 smite changes). So after successfully voting for it 30 seconds to a minute pass letting players wrap up what they are doing then the game would pause. They would need a vast majority vote PER TEAM. the worst thing that I can see happening would be enemy teams voting to pause the game just before they lost, but the 30 second warm up time would help eliminate some of this. Lastly because these need to be voted on by only 1 team doing so in the middle of a team fight would be disadvantageous to your team only. Think of like calling a surrender vote during a team fight. It adds additional context menus that block you screen, alter your focus, and/or take your time to click. Therefore these would most likely occur during genuine need times, and I for one would like to see this come to pass for the majority of Online Real Time Strategy games.

*Paused time would / should not occur IP point gain. *Pausing should require a VAST majority of your team. IE 4/5 on SR & ARAM, and 3/3 for TT. *Pausing should grey the entire screen letting all players know that the game had gone into pause mode. *The announcer voice should announce that the game will be Restarted in 30 Seconds. *The announcer voice should announce that the game will be Paused in 30 seconds. *Team total pauses would/ could refresh after a certain number of minutes (one per 30 minutes, maximum of two at any given time) *I can see it being abused by trolls of losing teams just before the game ends though by voting for a pause just before they lost. *If the above scenario did occur, it could always be added as a violation report option (think AFK, harassment, verbal, etc)
