Riven's Q direction out of combat only moves her forward

I was playing Riven in a 1 v 1 against a friend the other day when I realised that her Q only goes in the direction she's facing when out of combat. Considering that it moves her in the direction of your cursor in combat and her dash always moves her in the direction of the cursor I was wondering why there's a difference. Nidalee has her pounce and swipe in the direction of the cursor and as I said Riven has her Q work in combat but not out of combat.

Is there any chance this could be changed so that her Q always goes in the direction of your cursor? I don't play her often and I know it makes the few walls she can jump over require more accuracy than Nidalee but I can't see why that's fair. There are plenty of other champions with a dash that can clear terrain far more easily. Any Riot person able to shed some light on this?

I thought her Q went in the direction of the closest enemy champion within range by default, but went in the direction she's facing if there's nobody in range.

According to Riven's champion page on the website: "Riven will target the unit your cursor is hovering over, or if no targets are present, Riven will simply strike the direction she is currently facing."
