Real Talk: As a Taliyah main, can Tali have her vertical knockup back on her W?

It's honestly frustrating as to why she HAS TO push to a side. For a utility mage, it's annoying that her main CC skill is so restrictive. As if it isn't restrictive enough due to its casting paradigm and cast time. Tweaking the casting paradigm a bit in order to bring it back would be a blessing even if it's situational. My idea is that if W is held down, a direction is chosen based on where the cursor's position on the screen is. A direction is not chosen and simply knocks up if W is not held down. Kind of like how Warwick's Q works.

An example of my frustration: https://youtu.be/KPvXrqFgnhs

I could've simply knocked up and held Varus in place for my Caitlyn to trap and shoot, but I have to knock in a direction, causing him to get into AA range and deal too much damage to Caitlyn for Nami to finish her off. I can't knock Varus away because he would get out of range and escape. Knocking him to the side wont really do much since he's still in range to shoot. Knocking him up will allow Caitlyn to stay out of his AA range while maintaining her own and maybe even trapping him for a kill.

Again, I know the change is situational, but those situations come up a lot more often than not. It was incredibly useful when her W was still a two-step spell since it was basically a pseudo stun. She's known for her utility, so I don't see why she shouldn't be able to control her W more.

I think this is what you're saying, but I'm going to explain it in an easier way to understand (if this isn't what you're saying, this is my idea of how the W should work):

W should work like the ping wheel: If you just press it, it's a knockup. And if you hold it down, you decide where it knocks enemies based on where you drag your cursor, like how you ping different things based on which direction your cursor is dragged.

It would be very nice, but since the cast change, it has been impossible.

Amen. Take my upvote.

Would love this and the circle indicator back that actually showed the whole range of the W too.

You want to go back through every champion spotlight and point out the differences from the current mechanics? That's a terrible way to look at champion kits.

Isn't knocking champions straight up useless with her E?

Blue team has 4 water drakes. I didn't know that was possible.

Should they revert the W change? I don't play Taliyah that much but the new W made it and makes it MUCH harder to use.

Well, yeah it would be situational...

I think the biggest problem would be that a lot of players would accidentally just use the knock up and it could lightly effect her win-rate...

But it is a FREE way to move an enemy! Caitlyn should probably have placed her trap to the left or right if she had the knowledge that you had W up and were ready to use it.

I think making the ability have too much customization in it's range would be a little difficult to implement and could lead to some strange game play.

kind of miss the old w (when she also had more dmg) a successful combo was a guaranteed kill xd

I completely agree. A simple Knock-up is very useful when you have the target in a position you want it to be. I usually always knock it up to where my E is but a simple knock-up can also be useful in many situations. I have no idea why they would take something like that out of her kit. Her playrate and winrate all are fine.

I like playing Ziggs a lot and I found Taliyah's knockup similar but slower. Haven't played her recently but I know the longer push means her E is more efficient since you can hit more rocks. Honestly I can't see what you're complaining about in the clip, maybe a little less push would've made a difference but your Cait didn't die because you knocked back too far, she died because her positioning was letting Varus auto her before the knockup happen and she took damage she didn't need to take.

Lower knockback is better for comboing with her q or controlling an enemy in situations that need accuracy, but you're asking for her e to be nerfed as well as her self peel. I don't think an ally positioning poorly is the greatest reason to nerf that ability, maybe a little less range but more e slow would work?
