I played my first ranked game yesterday as Morgana. During the laning phase, my adc would flame me for trying to poke to enemy adc/sup because we were pushed in I then got rooted from Leona and I died... what was I supposed to do in that situation. And can you guys give some tips to be a better sup for my team? I rly want to climb

Maybe you were obviously exposing yourself to the Leona ? Leona can add a lot of pressure during the laning face, that's why it's recommended to play safe against her

What level were you at the time? What skills did you have leveled? Was everything available? Remember as Morgana you can spell shield Leona's CC if you're fast enough. If she dashes in, throw up Spell shield so she doesn't root you then you can walk away or even turn the fight onto the ADC (or her if she's under tower shots).

Another thing is, if you're afraid to get dived under tower just use your pool behind the minion wave so they don't try to approach the tower or they will take damage. Your job as support is to poke them down but you also don't want to get rooted and killed yourself.

Heya! Not that high elo but I can try and give you some tips on climbing as a support. I'm currently Gold 3 and pretty much exclusively play support in ranked.

It sounds like you may have been getting a little too aggressive and the enemy team punished you for it. As Morgana you do have the black shield which you can use to negate Leona's CC. Making sure you use it wisely and in the right situation is important as the cooldown is very long and gives the enemy lane a large window of opportunity to all in you when they know you don't have it available.

Another thing to keep in mind is some matchups are good/bad. I don't think it was right of your ADC to flame you, but there will be lanes where you need to play passively. While poking the enemy laners can be useful, if they can straight up out-trade your poke, or you have to put yourself in a dangerous position to get poke, it's probably better to just chill.

As far as supporting for the team, it really depends on the type of support you are playing. As a general rule of thumb, warding and making sure your team has vision of critical areas of the map is very important. I typically play 'save' type of supports. The way I see it when I play support is that it is my job to make sure the team, and more importantly the carry (this isn't always your ADC! :D) stay alive. Making sure you peel and protect whoever is carrying the fights is pretty important. I've found that keeping people alive and cc'ing/exhausting critical targets is the best way to swing a teamfight in your favor. A lot of people underestimate the impact supports have in fights. I'm not really a morgana player, but I'd imagine your role for the team would more focus around finding good engages with you ult/comboing your ult with a teammate's engage, finding picks with your q, and making sure you black shield whoever on your team is the priority when they need it.

Also don't be afraid to roam mid! helping your mid lane get a kill or even just the enemy flash can be extremely useful. Just be sure to roam carefully and with vision, not when your ADC is being shoved into tower and dove by the enemy lane because you left at a bad time.

Maybe someone else can give you some better advice but I hope this at least helps you a bit for the time being. Best of luck in your ranked games! <3

The only LEGIT advice in order to rank up is hope for a better team, there is no point in blaming yourself because ur team was retarded

plays morgana -------> gets rooted

......How?

tbh without video proof, it is really hard to tell who messed up. one of these 2 scenarios probably happened:

  1. your adc afk farmed while you were attacked and noticed it too late. if Leona jumped into your minion wave ---> adc messed up
  2. you were out of position and your adc couldn't help you besides heal. ----> you messed up

but don´t worry too much, as many adcs just flame you no matter what you do, so take their criticism with a grain of salt and focus on self-improvement instead.
