Anyone that sees any reason to play aurelion right now over other midlan mages?ill explain why i ask. his dmg is not that great.yes q-r combo does some burst but so does every other mages combo.his w is nothing to anyone with gapclosers and his ability to farm i much wosre than any other mage available.his asset of ganking with e-q is countered by the fact that you can see him coming and i dont even know why you see him in bush with his w. to me it seems that every other mage has much higher outplay potential and safe aswell.your thoughts?

Aurelion Sol is the best midlaner to climb elo with. He has the BEST roaming potential from all midlaners and one of best mobility to escape most ganks with e.

Sol has one of strongest aoe damage and his r ~> q ~> w alone can burst most targets, and can even score a penta himself. His laning is decent. His two item powerspike is pretty crazy. Rylais + glp is a really strong combo with him. Lyandry is also very good on him as well.

If you look at the highest winrate by experience for midlane, Aurelion Sol is #1 and Annie is close 2nd. Now why pick any other midlaners other than those two? Annie may be better than Aurelion Sol as she is a lot easier to play, but Aurelion Sol has a very easy win with his 56% normal winrate. I hope you get why Aurelion Sol is such a strong, if not best midlaner atm.

Same thoughts, I would even go as far and say that if they don't fully rework him he will never be viable.

His damage is fine even tho a bit unreliable with the fact that people can dodge the stars relativly easily and all his abilities are skillshots. What is also extremly frustrating is that his stars are gone when he is CC'ed. I mean why is that even a thing? With the massive amounts of CC in the game it just feels awful to know that your main damage source will go away again and again. Also, his E. I don't know what to think of this ability. Yeah it's great that you can roam fast and theoretically play him as a jungler (okay, no one does that) but it's just awful for a midlaner to only have 3 abilities to fight with (basically only 2 since you can't ult all the time). Other things that you partially meantioned which make him frustrating and boring to play:

  • Farming is a pain in the butt early on.

  • The stars you see outside of bushes.

  • Ironically having no mobility in combat while having an ability that is only there for mobility.

  • Feeling useless in fights. I mean you basically stand there and wiggle a bit around to hit enemies with your stars and do damage. Wooo....

  • His Q feels....weird? Idk I really don't like how you have to aim this ability to make it work, it always feels a bit weird.

    • the stuff I meantioned above.

So eh no I don't see a reason to play him over any other mage and I don't think that will happen unless they completly change him. I don't even think he is particulary weak but he just feels so goddamn awful to play.

He is really good if he's mastered, the issue is he's one of the hardest champions in the game. Riot has stated they wanted to rework him moths after he came out because he was much harder than they expected and nobody is playing him. A lot of people love his design and voice, but his gameplay is so hard that people suck at him, and the environment in League is one that if you need 100 + games to learn a champ, you shouldn't be playing them because your e just throwing away games to practice.

My god you have absolutly no idea about how this game or how statistics work. He was perma banned for one single series that is not an indication for the champ to be good. If he would be perma banned for a split then you could have a point, but not like this. Just because one or two guys can play him does not mean he is the "most feared mid laner in the game" lmao. Ahri was nerfed that's why she is a bit weaker right now, she was still basically perma pick (and ban for a while) in spring split. And even after the nerfs she still has a 52% with a stable pick rate. And no Ahris ult ist not countered by TF ult (how is that supposed to counter her wtf are you talking about?) and since the ult has 3 charges point and click CC won't help aswell unless you can burst her down fast enough.

Ahri picks in professional play https://lol.gamepedia.com/Ahri_-_The_Nine-Tailed_Fox/Match_History (289 this year in total)

Aurelion picks in professional play https://lol.gamepedia.com/Aurelion_Sol_-_The_Star_Forger/Match_History (7 this year in total)

If that differential between pick rates is not obvious enough for you then I can't help you anymore, I can't make it more obvious. He sucks for everyone who does not master him if you like it or not and he will be reworked if you like it or not. Say bye bye to him.
