From one low elo player to the others out there. I've been playing this game for almost two years now. During this time I've seen a lot, heard a lot, and played a lot more. As a player whose recently (5-6 months now) started playing ranked consistently the things I see in our elo are awful. I don't understand why people don't take advice from other players. and I mean the good advice not the flame that runs throughout this game. If someone is giving you sound advice... its probably because they understand just a little bit more about this game now it can be argued that they didn't see what you saw during that particular game, or teamfight, or invade or whatever it was that brought it about but please if you're trying to climb its best to heed the advice people are giving you.

I feel like a lot of this can be rectified by simply realizing where you are(bronze, silver, even gold) ... and where you aren't (diamond, master, challenger) I love watching youtube montages and streamers speaking their peace (and believe me I've watched a metric butt ton of league games on youtube), but at the end of the day, they are not in bronze or silver, or gold (for the most part). We tend to copy what we see because we see them win (or lose for varying reasons) and we want to be where they are. We want to be winning our games by a landslide like they are. Ranked is not the place to do this. The reason for their success is because of their game knowledge! a diamond, master, or challenger player can pick up ANY champion and have decent success with that champion. not because that champion is hidden OP, its because they have a very keen understanding of the game mechanics. I.E. they know where to be when, they know how to position for a teamfight, they know when the enemies abilities are on cooldown, they know how to initiate or follow up during ganks. but most importantly, they know when to back off and reset.

I'm not mad at anyone, I'm not flaming anyone that likes to play off meta picks or one trick someone in a role they don't particularly belong in. I know ive played MANY games where we just run around doing crazy things and having fun, but I don't do them in ranked.

Just play smart please and for the people honestly trying to climb out there. heed peoples advice, know when to back off, and stay positive no matter what. at the end of the day this is just a game.

The reason it's so hard for people to take advice from the ones around them is simple: equal elo. It's hard to take someone's advice if they're stuck in whatever elo you're playing in as well. Especially if they've been playing for a long time. It's a matter of pride for a lot of people. Generally though, the people you're telling what to do know they're making mistakes, so pointing it out is like rubbing salt on a wound. Even if it's constructive in nature, criticism comes off badly to people who are very tilted and/or people who know they're making mistakes.

This is also the reason they copy challenger/lcs/whatever players' strategies like religious doctrines. They saw the top players do it, so that's who they'll listen to. No one else.
