  1. you face lower skill oppoents in normals
  2. you get carried in normals to the point you can do well
  3. you get lucky

Take your pick.

I'd say something along the lines of this, as a fairly experienced player in the SoloQ ranked ladder, having played 3 consecutive seasons thus far. Peaking at Gold IV, I'll say this much for ya, :) :

  1. You're new, don't expect to magically be good during ranked, it'll take a while before that happens.
  2. You most likely played A LOT of PvP but really that proves nothing, you have to analyze and UNDERSTAND those games in order to truly learn and improve.
  3. As a new player in general really, you basically are fresh into the system and as such could be faced against and teamed with the following: Bronze 3 to Bronze I on YOUR team while facing Silver V(5) or higher on the enemy team, in some cases, enemy might just have a high mmr unranked player. A high MMR indicated that this UNRANKED player is likely to be AT LEAST Silver.
  4. You're a noob. We've all been noobs, it's pretty obvious. As such, my noob evidence is : KEEP PLAYING, YOU WILL GET BETTER, JUST DON'T RAGE!

Because ranked is a completely different experience. The competition is greater, co-ordination with teammates is more important, map movement and awareness is more way more important, there's a much greater focus on objective control (or at least there should be), etc. Even at bronze the competition tends to be greater, and people generally try harder. Norms tend to be people messing around, and focused on kill-chasing.

I've noticed that teams tend to feed less in my normal games. In my ranked games, its nearly always a one-sided stomp.

normal mmr is so random its really hard to tell where your skill is at unless you have hundreds if not thousands of normal games played. That and people tend to play more for fun in normal or try champions they are not that good with or new builds, which makes games easier. I have played this game a lot and if I go into normal I will almost certainly only play a champion I don't know that well just for practice and fun and most likely not do too well. Just because you beat me doesn't mean I wouldn't wreck you with my main champions in a ranked setting.

Normal is a good place to have fun and practice. But ranked is where people come to play to try and win, which means its a more difficult setting. (Well its supposed to be... low elo games pretty random, and now dynamic queue, etc.)

We couldnt find recorded data for Ranked 5x5 games If you have past ranked games on the last 7 days, you can calculate them in our Match History
