Why does Malzahar, a champion that severely lacks counterplay, have some of the highest AP scaling?

His laning phase is extremely uninteractive in most cases, and he scales pretty absurdly.

The only way to interact with him is to make sure he can't interact with you.

Why?

I'd wait for the new runes, it looks like the new runes don't do anything for him, and do things for other mages.

I think mages will be able to contest him more with the new meteor keystone in lane, dark matter for basic attacks, etc.

However, if Malz's winrate doesn't drop after the runes changes I do think his ult can do with a small damage nerf.

Just saying, I've ruined every Malzahar I run into with Veigar, especially after the buffs. You Q his shield, W and ult and he's done. If he builds Banshees like a good boi you're screwed tho.

I will never understand why both players and Riot constantly, constantly complain about Malz's lane being supremely uninteractive, but at the same time strictly refuse to let jungle Malz be possible.

Because his abilities are DoTs. You generally have time to react to his combo, can counter his ult with 1300 gold and DoTs generally have good base/scaling to feel impactful.
