Would it not suffice to keep Yorick's kit relatively the same? Have his W burst after a delay (but increase the slow) and have his Q throw a ranged projectile that detonates on impact with an enemy. This would let him engage in team fights and harass in a way that isn't as toxic and impossible to counter. I love Yorick to death (huehuehuehuehue puns) and I think putting his rework on the backburner isn't as required as it seems.

The only change Yorick needs to make him balanceable would be to swap his Omen of War and Omen of Famine's targeting scheme.

Famine becomes a melee attack reset and War becomes a ranged nuke, that way Yorick has to actually get in attack range to heal.

Or make his Omen of Famine a Skillshot, (miss it and severely lose that sustain or use it to push the lane and risk getting ganked?) and give his ghouls passive AoEs that affect friendlies so they can be used to help the teamfight situation, and increase his cooldowns to make his laning phase have even MORE counter play opportunity. I actually have a thread on this in fact a bit more detailed about what and why.
