Deathfire Touch lacks clarity
- Shows damage per 4 seconds instead of per second
- Does not stack up on enemies --> We have no idea how much damage it actually does.
The mastery tooltip should be refactored to show its dot damage in one second. Then exceptionally state: aoe affects last double/2 seconds, and single target lasts quadriple/or 4 seconds.
That way when one considers the mastery they're only thinking upward (easier for me at least)
ALSO IN GAME, why isn't the dot using the new ramping up combat text?????????????????? (cannot express enough??)
ALSO IMO, every damage mastery should state damage done in their tooltip during the game. I know it's not an ultimate conclusion on which is best, but it should help with assessment for those who are curious.

I would love a total damage dealt calculation in the tooltip for DFT. I can survive not having it for the others but when it's so difficult to notice it really needs something to boost your confidence in it.
Would appreciate similar for Liandry's.
The reason why it is unclear is to hide the fact that it does utterly shit damage except for
I still don't understand why they made his AOE spells count as single target ones. It's blatant favoritism.

I think it's because they're not technically AOE abilities to champions, but they are AOE in the fact that they pierce minions and monsters and therefore can hit multiple things that are not champions.
still aoe it doesn't specify.
But the Mastery only applies to Champions. You're not applying a DoT burn to Minions or Monsters.
because they already were single target on champions
i tested this with
on release
they probably went and changed the description, figuring it would not be a problem anyway, rather then bothering to change it.
It works well on Jhin because he just gets such an absurd amount of AD. It works well on a lot of sustained-damage/AOE mages, too... Like... Karthus and... Brand, I guess.
It works fine on Zyra. And Malzahar?
And Brand
It's quite powerful on AD EZ. Not blue build, but actual AD build. Same with GP honestly. A direct shot as full AD gp is pretty painful. Even a barrel on multiple people it adds up a lot. Ad varus its useful for, if you build for arrow damage (basically straight AD). AD Mantheon it's great for. Spears gaining a shitton of hidden damage. It adds up.
The trend is pretty obvious, if you build AD and poke over time, it's useful AF. If you don't, it's much less useful.
On a related note, it's garbage on most mages because it's AP scaling is beyond shitty. Why does AD get .6 (thats a lot) when mages get .25? AP isn't that cheap anymore. Doesn't help that almost every mage that uses it has AoE or DoT based spells only, which further cut it up.
--> We have no idea how much damage it actually does.
I'll tell you exactly how much: Shit. With just base MR and Hp5, it's pretty worthless early and just barely mediocre late even with full penetrations.
It actually does a decent amount of damage on some champions.
maybe

This is generous, too. Only Jhin uses it a great majority of the time.
Urgot gets use out of it from his Q's. Also, I was watching this one LCS match and Jensen took it on Varus, and the casters were commenting that it has great synergy on him.
Urgot, sure. But Varus?... DFT isn't as useful as you would think considering that his skills aren't exactly spammed, and TLD provides more synergy with the burst he has. If you could afford to go for the long haul in fights - which is why you usually pick Varus in the first place - I wouldn't be against it.
I was a bit confused about Varus and DFT too. I think C9 had a poke team comp, so I guess DFT made sense there. Thanks for explaining.
Still doesn't mean much. If Darius auto attacks you once and backs off, you will see his puny 5 physical damage passive in action with the new combat text system. Only difference is that Darius's passive procs 1 for every 1.25 secs. All they have to do is do the same. Not that hard.
You obviously didn't do the math on that. Darius can stack his passive and thrives on it with his kit. Compared to DFT, it has infinitely more potential in both laning and teamfights.
You are forgetting the whole point of my comment. The discussion is about DFT not being shown in the new combat text system. It doesn't go like this 7,14,21,28,35. It goes like this 7,7,7,7,7.
Darius bleed, even though if you auto attack once and you see the bleed damage, it will show up as this 2,4,6,8,10 ASSUMING that if his passive deals 10 physical damage over 5 seconds.
Fantasy Sniper You are saying that because it deals so little damage, it won't be applied to the new combat text system. However, Darius dealing 2 physical damage per tick** "FOR EXAMPLE"** still works with the new combat system. The only main difference between DFT and Darius is the amount of time the DoT ticks. For DFT, it ticks once every .5 seconds. So if you have DFT going on for 4 seconds, 8 ticks. 2 seconds = 4 ticks.
What riot needs to do is make it so that it counts towards the new combat text system.

Here is what I mean when i say "new combat text system" if you didn't by any chance.
If Darius auto attacks you once and backs off
Thats the whole point. The damage is strong once he gets 5 stacks and the math i can provide but is pointless. I only said this to be used as an example for the new combat text system. That is all.
_I know everything about Darius. _

I'm not against it being summed in the combat text at all. The problem I have is that you compared DFT to Darius' "puny" passive.
If Darius' passive is puny, then what does it say about DFT?
Puny 5 damage over 5 seconds.... lv 1 Darius ... with one stack... Don't waste my time.
Darius' passive deals a base 10 damage with one stack. Even when factoring in early resistance levels, that's still more than a level one DFT proc. Again, do your math.
Not going to bother. Actually I will.
#1: never said Dft was worse than Darius passive. That's your statement.
Dft and Darius passive will actually do no damage at all. Darius lv 1 with no ad (I use this rune page like this) will deal 10 physical damage over 5 seconds assuming you have 0 defense. Factor in defense, you will remove at least 25% or more damage. Then you have regen. So literally 0 damage. The damage only becomes evident once you get more stacks and AD / more ad/AP for Dft and make sure it is single target.
You are trying to argue on one statement and you read it completely wrong.
Don't waste anymore of my time.
Ok, jeese, aggro much? You're the one who posted more than a paragraph and even linked a vid making the same mistake. Why in the hell do you keep saying "5 damage"?
And you will never understand my post at all.
I'm sure you can see how much damage DFT does exactly at any point in the game by pressing tab and hovering over the DFT icon beside your champion. If that's what you mean.
Anyway I agree I can't notice the damage at all, there's no indicator for it, or a mention of how much it does for AOE and DOT.
Mmmmmmm-no. That shows the raw damage over 4 seconds. So you have to take half that value, and then decrease it by at least another 23% (MR) and then you have to count each tick to know how much damage it did throughout the fight.
