I really liked the way the old masteries were laid out better than the new ones

Look at how simply it's laid out, and how when you hover over every mastery it tells you what it does. Then this mess is so large it takes up all of the screen and gives the feeling that it's really up in your face. The only stuff that's neatly laid out for comparison are the two skill trees you're choosing. I liked the way the old masteries looked better.

Riot feels that they need to keep up their impressive visuals, so half of the runepage has to be a pointless picture

I haven't even noticed the pictures. I try not to notice. I think they look dumb, so I avert my eyes so I don't see, and it's soooooooo frustrating to look at.

On the bottom left of your Rune page, there should be 9 dots. Click that one, it will get you closer to the older layout for the two trees you're viewing.

I agree though. The older masteries were so nice, these are sorta a pain to change in Champ select. Granted, I still don't understand what all of them do, but it was much easier to compare other masteries than these new ones.

I actually prefer being able to add +0.2% attack speed myself vs being told I have to choose between attack speed or cooldown reduction.

What? in the new system it's like that too. But I wasn't talking about how it functions, I was talking about how it looks. The old masteries were clearer and better to look at in my opinion.

They tried to streamline the selection process into a single tree, but it's still ugly. I get what you're saying.
