Riot alienating the fanbase... again.

Ive been playing urgot for quite a decent amount of time, mastery level 7 and 500k points on him. The new rework completely crushed any and all hope that I had for this company. Sure he has a "lock on" and he has a "bomb" and he has a "displacement" but the way you went about implementing them completely ruins the fun. Where's the super long range nuke spam? Where's the damage reduction? Where is the grotesque nature of Urgot that we all knew and loved? He just looks like generic bad guy #86 with spider legs and vel'koz's voice. Crabgot isn't even a crab man beast anymore, its just a generic rpg monster. You took away all the fun of playing urgot as a ranged artillery champion and just turned him into "ranged" darius. 350 range? Old urgots main problem was his range and it was still longer than that. It's not even the first time that riot has done this either. The poppy rework completely threw out any semblance of the old character except for the E. Where's the most fun ult in the game, the 1v5 ult? No auto reset? Why is she a pretty LOL SO RANDUMB teenager blonde instead of a strong willed demacian ambassador? I'm not saying reworks are inherently a bad thing, but the way that riot is handling it really speaks volumes about their production values After poppy was reworked, she was the most broken character in the game for the better part of a year. Now? She's in the bottom 20 win rates (counting all champions in several roles) The same thing happened to ryze The same thing happened to mordekaiser The same thing happened to rengar The same thing happened to trundle All riot is doing is making a shiny character that appeals to a wider audience and breaks the game for a few months so they can sell the newly revamped skins and get more people to play their game. But whatever happened to the fans that were truly devoted to the characters that are being reworked? Whatever happened to preserving the fun of the game instead of just letting power creep stack infinitely? Id rather play a fun character with 240 pixels and 3 voice lines than a "meta" unfun character that stomps everything, has no interesting qualities, 3 billion voice lines, shiny textures, and just overall negatively impacts every match. When you take characters like aatrox mordekaiser skarner urgot and poppy and change them for the "better" you're drastically hurting the people that genuinely care about these characters, and I think you should be a bit more worried about that than a few extra dollars.

Fellow Urgot main here to lend his point of view.

OP is correct. New Urgot is uncalled for.

This is the issue I take with "reworks" like this. Sion, Urgot, Galio - they're not "reworking" the champion to make them more balanced, they're determining that they don't want to have to deal with balancing a champion that most people found awkward and deleting them.

New Urgot doesn't bear any semblance of the old Urgot's kit - they slapped on a bit of range to a very bland bruiser and said "Okay, ranged bruiser, it's Urgot." I've been playing current urgot for years and have even more mastery on him across two accounts than OP does. He really does epitomize the concept of a ranged bruiser, between his damage mitigation, rapid ranged damage output, shield and kiting, and ability to catch careless squishies and eat them.

This new fake Urgot is just a very generic bruiser kit reminiscent of Darius's, with the gimmick of being "ranged" slapped on to make it seem unique. More specificaly, they put all their efforts into making his ult seem so damn cool that all the league players who had no idea what the identity of old Urgot was like will look at it and think, "Wow, that's so badass and such a unique concept." They didn't put an inkling of effort into retaining the old character because, like Sion, this was all an elaborate excuse to delete someone they hated having to deal with. Design a new character kit and story, make them vaguely resemble the old character visually, slap the same name on, bam - "reworked."

Beyond that, I've tested out the new Urgot on PBE. It's complete and utter trash. If they don't give almost every aspect of his kit enourmous buffs, he'll be more situational and less useful than the current Urgot. Regardless, this does nothing to cater to people who enjoyed the old Urgot as Riot ALWAYS promises they'll do when they rework a champion.

Basically all of the reworks have changed the champion for the better, "mains" will always bitch and moan because they think that dedicating themselves to a champion automatically gives them insight into their design and nuance.

Do you not realize that previous versions of reworked champions were hot shit?

Saying new champions "negatively impact every game they're in"

Yet you hold up old Urgot and Poppy's toxic kits on some kind of pedestal? I don't follow your logic. Urgot had an unhealthy, opressive laning phase and a completely disjointed kit (an artillery champ that wants to switch places with enemy champs?).

And Poppy's ult was straight up anti-fun in every way, I don't know how anyone can suggest otherwise with a straight face.

Is OP for real? This is the first time I've looked at Urgot and thought. "Dang! That's a champion I actually want to play." I tested his old kit out a few times, but as the seasons progressed he kinda faded out. He just didn't fit the meta anymore. His new rework actually gives him unique gameplay that has one of the coolest features in the game. An execute. He also has mechanics by using the legs which I find entertaining rather than the braindead style he used to run on. His ult is now viable with a decent range too. Also, as far as the skins... they look epic! Crabgot actually looks like a "Giant Enemy Crab" and not some toned down version of the lobster guy from One Punch Man.

I'm honestly convinced that anyone defending new Urgot's kit hasn't played it or the old one. As usual, Riot made the new character look flashy above all else. Play it and tell me it's actually good when your enemies just walk away from anything you try to do.

reworks are going to happen. how do you think I feel about the upcoming Yasuo rework? I'm not going to like him getting reworked, but I'll adapt. So you should too.
