(Poll) Should Tanks be damage dealers, or crowd control dealers
Recently riot is trying to push mega tanks out of the game and make them pseudo-bruisers who build tank items but compensate via high base damages or %max hp damage in kits. Or, they're trying to take away the "tank" in their kit to allow for less "oppressive" champ design.
Here's usually the pattern of tanks: -Weak upon release -overbuffed to be uber oppressive - too tanky and out-trades bruisers, damagers, and out-sustains other tanks or pokers in lane -gutted to where the champion is only used in the highest levels of play who don't care about the early laning, but a troll pick in solo queue if you're new -kept this way, then padded damage stats in lieu of making them "unfun" to play against -rinse repeat
Here we are at season 9 upon us, and I think the community is very divided on what tanks should be doing, because most people don't like tanks, period, and either variation of them causes an unhealthy meta.
Whether it would be
these goons being able to solo kill anyone on your team with one or two tank items, or
tacked onto said list, CC'ing you for an eternity, lasting 20 seconds in a teamfight, or literally taking no damage from 3 DPS/Burst champs, tanks are just really fucking shoe-holed right now.
Bruisers who build tanky are too, but that's a different discussion, because their itemizing is more rotund to damage. We're talking people who in most cases strictly build tank or ONE AP/AD item at the most.
Here's a couple common things about ALL these champs (some may not apply, but the list has at least two of these items involved:
-Good base damages for clear or trading
-Built in survivability in lane/jungle to ensure safe early game
-Playmaking and disruption are second nature to their kit
-Itemizing is GENERALLY the same thought process - HP / Resistances
to name a few
-The ability to generate free resistance stats
-Play style is to survive and get items, no matter how badly ahead your laner is, you know you can still make plays at some point. Getting ahead is not a promise but preferred
-The champion skill ceiling is low, but the decision making and macro is what decides your effectiveness
This might not be 100% accurate but it's pretty fuckin' close.
Can we get a straight one or other answer out of you goons in this poll that maybe a rioter can see, and actually consider, before making season 9, you know, season 9.
