I'm getting Evelynn next, any tips?

I have not played Evelynn in quite some time, but when I did, I personally loved playing Eve as bursty as possible.

very early on to maximize my starting burst, upgrading

helps aid in keeping you alive as well as preventing enemies from an easy escape.
Eventually I finally upgrade

It's honestly been a really long time since I last played her (or at least feels like it), so I admit I'm kind of building off memory here, but
finishes off the build I put nicely.
Trinket wise,
allows you to keep defensive vision as well as scout out where the enemy jungler is for whenever you go in to gank.

Take what you will from this; hopefully it's of some use.
the guides say go ap. DO NOT go ap. get ap as an afterthought to your sheen (I prefer triforce but most use lich) and at max 3 damage items including rylais. after that go full tank because it is the only good build.
I usually build her tank with a splash of AP.
Build usually looks like this, though changes based on enemy comp:

Reason being is Eve has taken heavy nerfs to her damage, especially her hybrid builds, so you have to be tanky now in order to stay in the fight. Before she used to be a burst assassin that was similar to Rengar, and then she took heavy damage nerfs so her damage output isn't great anymore and she's flimsy like paper D:
For going in, you have to wait until your team initates. Once they do just try and run in as best as possible. Don't waste your W going in, save that for chasing or running away if you're slowed. Ult is a good initiator for slowing, but it is not an execute and don't rely on it for damage.
Mash the tits out of Q when going in, and don't forget to use E and auto while mashing Q.
Her jungle clear is gross early on, but after you get your jungle item she clears easier.
She's a tough champion to play so don't get discouraged if you don't do well the first time. She's very feast or famine when built damage wise, but being a bruiser helps you and your team even if you're behind.
If you want a fun silly build I like building what I call "Sneaky split push":
Gives you some form of damage but plenty of map control in forms of wards and minion pushing. BoC gives your lane a super minion, so sneaking into an unoccupied lane and putting it on a cannon minion helps your team push without the enemy noticing. ZZrot does the same, so use it in a push after sneaking into the lane unnoticed. Use your tracking knife to steal enemy jungle camps as well as ward their lanes to keep eyes on them at all times.
Not meant to be a team fighting build though, mostly for split pushing unguarded lanes and 1v1 in case an enemy shows up in the jungle. Pretty fun~

Get a longsword early on, build the AP components of Echoes first, get a Sheen as early as you can. Your early clears are terrible, but get better with Echoes.
Don't build Eve tanky, since you're not a tank. Your job is to slip behind teams and assassinate carries. Can't do that as a tank. With this build, you can quite literally 100-0 the ADC before they can even react, as well as any other squishies on their team.
Look out for her VGU that is heavily implied to be coming in 2017.
Whenever your E's AS boost is not active, kite the camps spamming Q or her health will get obliterated, particularly early game.
She also clears pretty fast, remember to clear efficiently between ganks.
