Can anyone give me some pointers on what to expect and things to do in ranked.

The basics: Pick your Primary and Secondary roles, so that people can give you more specific tips. If you want even more specific tips, pick about 6 champions (2 or 3 each, maybe one that overlaps if possible) so that people can give you more tips. This last part is particularly important if you're looking for playstyle tips, as knowing what your preferred type of champion is helps a lot.
As of right now...it's actually a bit hard to tell where things are headed, since we're finally seeing the return of anything other than AD assassins in the jng and AD bruisers in the top lane. But as far as the other three roles go, I'm sure people can help if you want to get more specific as to what youre actually looking for.
