Shaco boxes are being activated and therefore disabled by only picking up Sweeper.
Shaco AP requires affinity to outsmart or outplay you opponent. The opponent can buy a control ward in any case.
Sweeper, I believe, is a CHEESE strat against Shaco boxes by default. It disarms them for free.

Sounds like a bug, not a strat. It should reveal them, not activate them.
Shaco boxes are activated because that's the only way to remove the fear effect. If you're most melee champions you literally cannot auto from far enough away to kill them without activating them.
Either they're activated and so the fear is gone or they're not activated and the fear hits you anyways even if you sweep. Unless I grossly do not understand Shaco- the latter option is way more toxic to way more people than Shaco having traps be disarmed by the sweeper.
