Is Akali OP Rn or...

Honestly, judging from the boards I can't tell if people are with her or against her. Of course, it is annoying when she just 100-0 you just by pressing Q then AA you :/

I play a lot of Akali and while I am no challenger player or anything I personally believe that the "Akali is OP" talk comes from how abrupt her burst damage comes out. Good Akali players will know exactly how much and how quickly they can burst, and they will happily tower dive you and make your life miserable.

She also synergises with gunblade, another item which causes a lot of frustration for people considering she already has a pretty hefty amount of sustain from her kit.

That said I don't think she is OP, she is very much an all or nothing kind of character, who can snowball incredibly hard in either direction. She's easily locked down, she doesn't provide much utility at all to teamfights, and there are much better split pushers in the game than her... She also has very risky waveclear (Her E requires her to be in near meele range, which leaves her vulnerable to harass / dive pressure)

She's a complete and utter pub-stomper, but she does have exploitable weaknesses that people should be taking advantage of in order to make her useless to her team, and in higher divisions they -do- take advantage of it, Akali one tricks / people who play her a lot aren't all that common, although the recent buffs to her, and nerfs to others, have certainly brought her more into the spotlight.

I think she's likely to be reworked at some point, not because she is OP, but because her burst rotation leaves very little room for response, which just feels awful to play against if you're on the receiving end of an Akali dive because you took a step forward too far.

Really though I think she is a problem only to those who are unfamiliar with her limits, and those who refuse to adapt their playstyles against her.

I'll probably get some downvotes for defending her and saying she isn't flat out OP, but to be clear I don't think she is a healthy character, and it is pretty sucky for me considering she has been one my favourite characters for years, but she -does- need work to make her winning lanes less oppressive, and her losing lanes feel as though Akali can actually contribute something / get back into the game. People don't often talk about Akali's losing lanes, but when she is behind, she is -really- behind.

Hopefully Riot will bridge that gap and make her a more well rounded balanced character in future, without compromising her assassin aspects, but as it stands right now I think people will just complain more and more until she gets nerfed to oblivion, or reworked.

Akali is a strong champ but the sustain she got from her passive is much to op [sg-janna]

This thread is almost a year old? Why are you resurrecting it when it's no longer relevant?
