Yuumi is just awful now

DragonStryker··15 votes·4,309 views

The recent changes to Yuumi have really hurt her. I understand that she is not the most liked Champ, and promoting a passive play style isn't exactly fun, but how have the recent changes moved toward accomplishing this? The worst offender is the W "Channel Time" when re-attaching. It actively promotes NOT detaching, as having to hop back on feels awful. Also, if she detaches and gets hit with some CC (even a silence!) she just floats around uselessly.

Her E being a single charge means you just want to stay on the ADC all the time and give them buff, the Q time reduction just means you have to go for the quick shot, rarely will you pull off anything cool with it anymore, like hopping between 2 Champs to carry the Q further.

I really hope the balance team can take another pass at her soon, because as it stands, she is one of the most clunky and useless champs in the game now.

I'm fine with the E and Q changes, especially now that her E can actually heal early, but the W "channel" feels extremely clunky. The 5 second cooldown on stopping it also feels extremely bad, since that's an eternity in a scrim or teamfight. I don't understand that particular change-- Riot said they wanted to move her away from a passive playstyle, but these W changes only reward her for staying attached to her carry.

I agree this champ is very weak. I think reverting q duration back to 3 seconds and removing w channel time should put the champ in a good spot. The only annoying part about the champ was the q damage which they nerfed so now its fine. The champ as of rn feels like .5 a champion

My biggest problem is with the Q and E(as well as W feeling awful now but thats secondary). Q effively does nothing but fluff damage with insane mana cost.

To put it in perspective for you. Lulu's Q does 15 flat damage(Yes Lulu's normal Q does only 15 less base damage at max rank than Yuumi's empowered Q) BUT has higher scaling, can hit multiple Targets, slows for 80%, AND costs Less Mana. I am using Lulu as an example because every part of her kit does something and gives you decisions for different types of situations even the Q.

Lets talk about the E now. Rank one Whimsey from Lulu id better than a Max E for a steroid because it gives you 30% MS and ATK Speed for the same duration.

These changes just make her a worse Lulu.

Shield =/= heal, and on top of that, Lulu doesn't give you 20% bonus AP or 33% bonus AD or add forms of CC to champions that normally would never have them, and Taric and maybe Nami are the only comparisons there.

Lulu is a generalist.

Yuumi does one very specific thing, and Riot botched what she was designed around doing because anyone would. Its not feasibly balanceable.

As she should be. Who thought taking an already passive/afk role (support) and making a literal afk champ was a good idea?

I think the champion is still fine you just can no longer stack AP to give a ton of stats and be ultimate afk support which is a bit sad, because it was funny. You just build full support now, because anything else is pointless. Her heal is strong but like all heals gets devalued hard by grievous wounds which is always shitty. The W cooldown and channel is not even so bad, just means you need to think more and pay more attention which to be fair is probably not the reason why you would pick Yuumi, but whatever. LUL

With the Q duration nerf, just uncap the range because its so short and it'll stop a lot of frustration teammates and yuumi players have about her. Like a lot of these changes suck and I wouldve been happy with how she was, but if that change happens ill just accept the fate.

As Yuumi main those changes really so awful. She doesn't have slow in her Q and now its damage nerfed as well, no additional heal for risky situations, can't hoop out to get passive shield, extremely high cost abilities with long cd without rewarding enough. There is nothing you can do against champions like Nautilus anymore. Feels so unsatisfying to play her right now. [sg-janna]

They didn't hurt her. Her playrate and winrate went up significantly.

She might feel worse to play, but she's better.

Statistics don't lie.

Her pick rate is literally trending down like her win rate but i guess her pick rate is up in bronze though lol....

No, its actually down in bronze.

Don't know what that has to do with anything, though.

The champ won't be allowed to be strong without a full rework, basically. They'll end up making her feel worse and worse to play so they can buff her numbers even more.

The problem is that people who had a lot of exp with Yuumi aren't really winning more games but now she just plays worse for them. The people who casually play her/new to her are whats inflating WRs now. She's worse to play so scrubs have a less chance of costing you games if they pick her.

WoonStruck1 votes

49.18% Win Rate before on top 50 mains vs 50.11% Win Rate now on top 50 mains.

Also, suggesting casuals/new players are what's inflating her WRs makes no sense...Unless you're suggesting that Yuumi is so braindead that experience with her doesn't matter, and I don't think that's what you're suggesting.

Her pick rate hasnt changed in higher elos and her pick rate is a whoping 7% in bronze. it is absolutely low tier players influencing her win rate which the point should have been obvious with the fact that the Devs have to tell people to run Aery(something completely obvious to even a gold player).

These changes are garbage, not entirely sure hy you are defending them when you probably don't even play her.

WoonStruck3 votes

How is it low tiers influencing her winrate when any meaningful data excludes low tiers...? Unless you just mean players unfamiliar with her. I wouldn't describe them as "low tier" though, as there are high tier players among the people trying her out post-patch.

#I'm not defending the changes. They're hopeless.

I was just saying that statistically, she's doing a little better, even if she feels worse to play. Is it worth it? Maybe, maybe not.

She needs a complete gameplay update already. What she has isn't salvageable if she's supposed to be balanced.

A more extreme version of Taric's kits' interactions could keep her relatively similar while giving her more agency and having more interaction, for example.

If her kit requires her ally to put themselves more at risk than they normally would to get the most out of it, it would make up for yuumi herself being immune to basically everything, as another example.

If her kit required her to put herself at risk (mini-malph ult, for example where she leaves her ally and dashes to a targeted location and knocks up) to get the most out of it, that would be another, especially if she maintains her stat buffs while she's on an ally. There would be trade-offs in such a case for each action/lack of action, and she'd actually be vulnerable for periods.

She is worse to play and "scrubs" pick her meaning her winrate shouldn't be inflated but drop hard. Your logic makes no sense.

I mean its not really my fault that your reading comprehension is terrible.

She is worse to play as in Gameplay obviously if you actually read the discussion you would know that

She is easier to play for scrubs now so her WR goes up. Yuumi one tricks arent seeing the same increase in fact the highest WRs for one tricks was on the 8th(before the patch and it was 58%). One tricks WRs overall has went down while her overall WR went up. That supports the argument.

Its like you didnt read a thing i said and just replied with nonsense that isnt even true.

She was never OP in soloq only in proplay. Second after the nerfs for proplay she stopped being OP in proplay and became garage in soloq.

Third the changes made her more 1 dimensional, focused heavily on 1 ability(E) and her Q non existent. If you do not know the context on why she was "changed" and the arguments as to why her changes are bad than you shouldnt be talking here.

They literally buffed her W and made her fair to play against. Her damage with Q as ap was off the chart as she could attach to someone like garen and spam q while being untargetable. Honestly she could never be balanced because of her broken W.

They need to admit these changes were a mistake like the changes they made to riven and LIKE RIVEN REVERT THEM until they have something that actually works without ruining the champion into an afk heal bot for a single adc which is what these changes did.

ºòwóª1 votes

shes not terrible, i think some changes need to be made though. Currently if she gets hit by basically any non-auto ability in the game it sets her attach on a 5 second cd. This 5 second cd remains throughout the entire game (im pretty sure?). I think the CD when hit by a cc ability should lower when her w is spec'd (since you max it last), meaning late game her 5 second cd lowers to something like 3/2 seconds. And, make it to where silences (like sorakas silence) dont put you on a 5 second cd. That to me is kinda strange, same with singed's mega adhesive since you already get locked out of w anyways. Stuff like stuns/snares should apply the CD, though.
