Ilaoi feels horrible

Holy moly, I have never felt more useless on a champion. Yeah I realize she's supposed to be a big lane bully. But she doesen't even win against most other lane bullies like Darius and Renekton due to her lack of sustain.

I just had a game where I picked Illaoi and was against Nasus. I knew what I had to. Zone Nasus, keep him from stacking. Your Usual duty against Nasus. I did do a decent job of keeping him from stacking keeping about a 50 cs lead by 10 min. (A bit difficuilt though because my main harass pushes the wave) At one point Sej ganked but played it really bad. So I ended up killing both of them with master yi's help.

At this point I felt pretty good. We dived Nasus, took top tower, and now I was ready to help my team. However this is when things went downhill.

Team fight broke out near Dragon. I'm here Black cleaver completed and i'm feeling strong. I find myself in the middle of all of them and "SLAM!"

"Hey wait guys where are you going!" They walked away...

The tentacles that did hit didn't even look like they did that much... I got Cc'd, died and stared disappointing at my black and white screen.

I pondered it a bit. "Well it makes sence I mean counterplay and stuff..." But then I pictured what would have happened if I played Darius, or Riven, Or fucking anybody. I think I would have made more of a difference on god damn Aatrox.

But No it's fine... I'm obviously just meant to splitpush right?

Let's split push. So i'm splitting as you do. Notice some people are missing so I start hauling ass. People are surrounding me and I can't hop a wall due to my lack of flash. So I buckle up, grab someones spirit, "AND SLAM!"

I got locked down and died before I could w a second time. WELL FUCK!

Basically the rest of the game was me trying to clear waves with my shitty wave clear and be more useless until we inevitably lost. Now we didn't just lose because I picked Illaoi of course. Their Sejuani and master tier Varus had a bit to do with it. The point is how much nothing I was and felt like after lane phase.

Lane phase didn't even feel that good now that I think about it! Illaoi is clunky as fuck. She legit feels like an 80 year old carrying a huge fucking bowling ball. While playing on 200 ping.

I mean Holy shit look at these abilities!

Q- Shittier Darius Q in a line that's more predictable than Sion in general. Can't move when you do it like Darius either.

W- The worst auto reset in the world. Take a shot each time it's canceled and you will be dead by 10 mins. I would take new Rengar Q over this shit in a heartbeat.

E- One of her core abilities that you have more luck hitting a blitz hook than this shit. It's also completely cucked by dots and simply walking away...

R- "SLAM!"..... yeah you get it.

tl;dr: Illaoi feels like brick. A big ass, slow ass, clunky ass, useless ass, fucking brick.

Replace Illaoi with any top lane bruiser/melee champion.

Also I'd like to point out.

Nasus is a soft counter to illaoi. His Q stacks on your tentacles, so unless he's never killing them, he will always be ahead in stacks.

illaoi is very confusing to me, on 1 hand she feels useless and clunky, on another hand there are so many situations where the enemy illaoi building full tank with 1 black cleaver just ults 3 people and everyone goes down to 20% hp. her ult is ridiculous and is probably one of the main issues she remains like this

Just about every bruiser is dealing with this right now, which is why they are often replaced with tanks at top lane. Even Darius and Renekton struggle unless they get a significant lead and their opponent doesn't have more utility.

Also, don't pick her into stacking champs like Nasus/Sion unless you're confident you can end the game quick.

She takes a dump after E'ing and Q'ing. They need to rebalance her around not having this so she is not a minion lategame.

Nasus counters her?

When I play Nasus into Ilaoi I dont even need much cs to win, just Q her tentacles.

She has lane control but once I have Sheen and level 6 she loses. Most Ilaoi players don't build tank items against Nasus because they think they are in control. But when I give them the real good cane and they see they need armor it's too late by this point I already too control.

Ilaoi ult hurts like hell though. I have to build Steraks usually against good Ilaoi players to survive the burst.

I mean, Illaoi's R is actually bugged at the moment. The best Illaoi players use the CC Immune frames on her R really well, but right now if you do that your Ultimate Tentacles never slam.

As an MR7 Illaoi, I can tell you she scales pretty darn well both as a split pusher and in a siege scenario (land E, proc the vessel, successfully chunk someone for 1/3rd-1/2 of their HP and fully apply BC, rinse and repeat) - especially with the Sterak's buff that went through this patch.

You bought a Sterak's Gage and a Sheen instead of buying defense, and you were the only thing on your team even sort of resembling a tank. Of course you're going to get shit on when you do that.

But yes, Illaoi is less than good. Her issue is what her ultimate has the potential to do, even though it is unreliable, so Riot intentionally keeps her weak.

She is definitely reliant on her E too much, and her sustain needs a boost in certain situations, but maybe not in lane. I'll tell you what though, since you want to be in the middle of the fight, building her like Cho'Gath is really good.

Get a Gargoyle Stoneplate and Righteous Glory, and you can survive while still getting in there. Good luck buddy.

Her kit is a mess...

Hit E and force the other player ether to go or lose half or more of his hp then have this retarded things spawn then when they end you doit all over again..-PROBLEM

Her passive sustain PROBLEM

Her ulti PROBLEM

She need to be reworked or stay with what she is right now.....

She was a mess and that why nobody play her or even want to play against
