Have you played aram since patch 7.22? If yes, then you have contracted Dark Harvestism

Hi, I'm back! Riot asked me to stop posting daily because spams and reasons, and since I don't want to be banned I'll just post when I have a quality content for you guys. Here comes the post you've all been waiting for.

Aram is Dark Harvest. Dark Harvest is aram. I remember being on the PBE during the runes reforged and was thinking to myself: " what runes would be OP for aram". Little did I know that I right at that moment contracted Dark Harvestism. And I was not the only one. Dark Harvestism spreads rapidly, and soon the entire aram community had it. Dark harvestism manifests in 5 stages: Ignorance, Embracement, Acceptance, Resistance, and Apathy. Every player have been at stage 1, but some people are not advancing faster. The reason why I keep making this kind of posts is because I have faith that we as a community can reach stage 4/5 together, so we as a community can ask Riot for a cure.

Stage 1: Ignorance

I remember I was in this phase way back on the PBE. All those fancy runes, but the other runes seemed more interesting , so I wanted to test them first. Dark Harvest seems like a cheesy one-shot rune that is not going to work against competent players. The rune description is really shitty, and you assume that it's just a bad rune.

How to get to stage 2: It's all about understanding how Dark Harvest works, and why it works so well in the aram meta. enemy and allied Cannon minions, enemey and allied Super minions, enemy and allied champions drop souls when they die. If you pick them up, your next auto attack will deal bonus damage. Pick up another soul package, and you'll get another auto with bonus damage. The soul drops are 4 for Cannons and supers, and 5 for champions. The adaptive bonus damage on auto attacks is base damage + (25% bonus ad or 20% ap) + Total souls. The base damage is 45 up to 80 at level 18. You don't consume souls when you auto attack, so they will ramp up really fast. Why? In aram, every minion spawn will have a cannon minion, either on blue or red side. So every wave your next proc will deal 4 extra damage, and you'll get an auto attack ready, jsut from waiting on the next wave. Arams can get really bloddy, so there will be champions dying around you all the time. Every ally or enemy that dies will you stay alive will be +5 souls and another proc. This will quickly snowball a team fight, as every kill is another Dark Harvest proc. Then you think of the way Dark Harvest procs. Unlike most other keystone, you just need one auto attack, that's it. There's also this runes tab you can go in to match history. If you are still not rready to proceed to stage 2, then just try Dark Harvest one game and see your damage increasing. You can also go and check the aram win rate by typing in your favorite champion. Or just get rekt by your enemy taking Dark Harvest.

Stage 2 embracement

We all have our champions that we enjoy playing, but they are actually shit in aram our Udyr, Katarina, Akali , Tryndamere and their friends. Since stage 1 is over, we are now aware that Dark Harvest is a totally viable option. We get an amazing idea: Let's take Dark Harvest on those champions and do either A: build full damage and try to oneshot or B: go full tank and rely on the soul scaling for damage. And it works. For a couple of games we start seeing huge success, and doing very well on those champions.

How to get to stage 3: Keep abusing Dark Harvest and winning more games. Eventually you'll get matched by other players also abusing Dark Harvest. Now, while you are playing a shit champion with Dark Harest, they are playing an amazing champ with Dark Harvest.

Stage 3: Acceptance

We are taking Dark Harvest, our teammates are taking Dark harvest, our enemies is taking Dark Harvest. We start realizing that Dark Harvest is not empevoring us, and we start getting bored of having to run the same setup every game, but we still run it, because that's the meta. We hate losing, and it feels shit to lose just because we refused to take Dark harvest.

How to get to stage 4: Just keep playing. You will get to moments were you get aced level 3 because one fuck up gave the entire other team 5 Dark Harvest proc resulting in chain kills. Other bullshit that can happen. Now the other team each have 25 damage extra each on their auto attack. gg, I guess. Play the shit early game champion, like the one you thought would benefit the most from Dark Harvest in stage 2. You'll realize that when that your 20 soul Dark Harvest proce that you can't use, beacause you are a behind melee champion is worth a lot less than the other team's 80 souls.

Stage 4: resistance

You'll get tired of aram and Dark Harvest being synonomous. Every game gets decided in the first 5 minutes, and then snowballed out of control with Dark Harvest. Games become more of a coinflip of who has the strongest early game champions. This is also the point when you start making an account on the boards and Reddit and start speaking up about Dark Harvest.

How to get to stage 5: I'm still kinda between stage 4 and 5, so I'm not really sure about this one. I guess what's preventing me from reaching stage 5 is my irrational belief that Riot gives a shit about aram and is looking to fix it, and the fact that more and more people are starting to realize that Dark Harvest sucks.

stage 5: Apathy

This is when you have completely given up on the aram meta. You stop caring about winning and start taking weird runes for fun. Eventually you may just quit playing aram all together.

How to cure Dark Harvestism: Disable Dark Harvest from aram!. Every aram player will go through this process. For some of the slightly less bright members of the aram community, this will take longer, but they'll eventually reach the later stages of Dark Harvestism as well.
