Why is LoL still a Beta on the Mac?

I've been playing LOL for a while now and was just wondering that it has been in Beta for over 2 years now. Seems rather odd too me but i'm not quite sure. How long do Beta's typically last anyways?

I know the constant updates might have something to do with it and if so, why aren't the PC's in beta as well?
