First time since Season 3 I'm averaging less than 1 game per day.

I'm not going to get into why I absolutely hate this season, but despite Season 6, I still continued to play multiple games daily. Since then something has happened. I started to play other games and then Overwatch Beta was released. I finally played a game where I didn't care about winning or losing. I enjoyed the game for the game. (Same way League was to me in Season 3)

I'll probably never quit league, but for someone like me who tries to get in 3+ games per day to just play one game and be content for the day....something is seriously wrong with the season. People say games like Overwatch are not competition because their demographic is different than MOBA's, but if it's taking away game time from league....isn't it a threat? After all, league took me away from other mmo's, console games, and my 3ds.

Anyway, what do you think? Are you playing less games this season? More? Any particular reason?

Overwatch is new and exciting and fun. It's the wild west, there's no meta, no history, no expectations to weigh you down. It's not full of trolls and ragers and AFKers and bots. The game is solidly made, fun, and everything's new and fascinating.

The honeymoon won't last forever. Eventually a meta will creep up, people will get a sense of which character does what things and hate when it's changed, and there will be a general expectation for how to do things and what to do when and with who. You'll eventually develop trolls, ragers, and people who can skirt the discipline system, even in a pay to play game. The game will fill with tryhards who want to win at the expense of fun, for winning is their fun. And eventually, everything will get boring and stale, the forums will fill with people complaining about patches and how the game is being 'ruined,' and matches will become boring and predictable. It will become popular and all those people who have been with it for years will think it sucks now.

Just like Ultima Online. Just like Counter-Strike. Just like World of Warcraft. Just like Starcraft. Just like DOTA. Just like League.

Such is the cycle of multiplayer video games.

Overwatch was a breath of fresh air. I felt amazing playing it.

** I felt...Happy?**

For once, I didn't care about losing, I didn't care about winning. I actually ENJOYED myself with every round.

Swapping characters to counterplay within seconds/ 5 Second respawns to jump back into the game / multiple beautiful maps / skill demanding game / and I've actually played with friends.

It was perfect.

Ive got my one game in this month. Game is trash now. Broken tanks, broken mobile ADCs, no solo queue. This season is the turning point for LoL.

This is going to sound crazy but I used to play 5-6 games a day. I used to be Diamond 3. I used to play the hell out of this game. I used to complain and submit tickets because I cared genuinely about the game. I put up with toxicity at it's highest and even became the toxicity that I was exposed to many times.

I've been permabanned, I've reformed, I've been a leader of a group of random strangers who felt like friends. I've been nice.

I'll be completely honest with you though. Overwatch to me, showed me how games are meant to be played. I didn't feel the weight of toxicity for the first time in a long time. I wasn't afraid to talk to give advice in fear of "FUCK YOU YOU NOOB STFU IM THE BEST BRONZE CHALLENGER PLAYER EVER" attitude that's all over League.

Teamwork just happened because we were a team, and it genuinely felt like I was playing on teams, not a bunch of random strangers on a Ego trip waiting till someone says 1 word to begin the intentional feeding.

If things ever went wrong I could just leave. I could report, but it was rarely used because people were so damn nice.

I've been going to the gym more often, doing better in schoolwork, spending more time with my gf/family. I finally realized League was actually a void in my life, it became an addition, not an enjoying one.

I tried going back, but Dynamic Q was the final straw. The toxicity is out of control, the randomness of Solo Q isn't even competitive. I played the shit out of Overwatch. I love every minute of it, even got my brother who's super busy to get back into gaming after he quit League as well.

That's my story, enjoy it. You're not alone. Send me your battle.net we will play when Overwatch is released, I have the Origins Version.

I like this season.

It gave me motivation to learn DOTA.

Meepo, Timbersaw, and Wraith King are all fun as hell.

Sahn Uzal5/13/2016, 3:44:32 PM4 votes

I'll probably never quit league

Look daddy! A realistic thinking person!

A few things to note here: I don't think you enjoyed past seasons a lot more than you do this one, you might! but I don't think you did. It's most likely that you remembered some specific thing about LoL in the past, and it's a lot more fun in your memories than it actually was in reality. AKA: nostalgia xP

I've been playing less LoL recently, because I simply don't have time :l Yeah... I've also tried smite, because I'm a huge mythology lover. But it didn't give me that enjoyment League gave me... So I'm still playing LoL.

I'd recommend you to think bad about the past, think about what champions you used to play in earlier seasons, and try them again. I've been getting back into Renekton recently. His new lore refreshed my love for him, and playing him refreshed my love for LoL.

Have fun playing whatever you end up doing ^^

The meta is killing it for me. That and they keep changing the game, new drags, herald buff, weird items etc..

CppL5/13/2016, 6:32:09 AM4 votes

First time since season 3 my win ratio droped belove 50%.Always had like 55% ,this season it dropped to 48%...Hmm i wonder ,why?

Osiris2125/13/2016, 4:39:35 AM4 votes

I'm a guy who likes to win so I got a tad bit upset losing in overwatch but I would immediately go back into it and start another game just cause it was a blast to play. I do the same thing with league but it's starting to waver really hard especially with this patch. Things just aren't fun when you get blasted each game or you stop them into oblivion there is never back and forth it is just either you cheese your opponent harder than they cheese you and there is very little reward for good play. It just a pure luck thing now if you win or not there is no such thing as skill and god help you if you try playing something off meta you just get royally hammered in lane from an op meta pick like ekko or gankplank

Fatalitý5/13/2016, 8:00:15 PM3 votes

I said the same exact thing I only play like 1 or 2 games a day now when I used to play a ton, the overwatch beta made me realize there are way better games that are better than league out there and I hate the way league is becoming

BluePolarizer5/13/2016, 7:07:59 AM3 votes

I quit for a month due to this and only play ARAM now.

A Prop Phone5/13/2016, 4:47:26 PM3 votes

Tried for the first few months of S6, but I've totally quit this game. For me it's 2 parts.

  1. They reworked Fiora, the only champ I really played. Then she was permabanned, now shes nerfed to shit thanks to terrible %hp true damage design.
  2. This game is a massive CHORE to play at this point. Every two weeks I have to read a 30 page document about what changed. They should rename patch notes to TPS reports, because I feel like an office worker in a cube trying to keep up with this stupid game.

I can't wait for Overwatch.

from my personal experience, ive tried Overwatch (it could have been any new game actualy) which drag me away from league. first lets say i was easily playing 3-4 game per day which is alot of time for someone like me who work 48H/week. since season 6 i started playing less and less feel free to chek my history and stuff ive played since season 2 alot. then while i was playing Overwatch i tought i would go back to league after the beta period end but no .. just the break i took from league by playing something else for some consecutive days, cured me from the league addiction, i am now clean and the only thing that Riot could do to get me back in would be an annoncement of a real soloQ (even if a big number of chars still broken AF compare to the state of the game 2-3 years ago)

Tendinosis - recommended that I don't play at all and to be honest, I'm glad. Can't say I'm missing League this season so thankfully it happened recently.

TotalJerk5/13/2016, 7:47:09 AM2 votes

More than anything I think you're going through the early stages of burnout.

Also when you fall in love with a game any change can aversely affect your appreciation. For example in Smash there's Melee and there's the Brawl mod Project M. Project M is objectively far more balanced than Melee, but lots of people still consider Melee the superior game for numerous valid reasons (personally I prefer PM). They could potentially one day make this game more balanced than it's ever been, but the fact of the matter is that this wont ever be the same game that you fell in love with when you played Season 3.

ZT Xperimentor5/13/2016, 4:04:21 PM2 votes

Though season 1-3, I'd play around 8-12 games a day, each day in the week, except for holidays of course. In season 5 & 6, about 1-4 a day couple days, barely reaching how many I used to play in a day through an entire week. Yeah I'm getting tired with with the direction riot has been going; more overloaded champions & reworks, even more refusal to balance, ever more impatience with strategy.

AquariusGine5/13/2016, 5:10:07 AM2 votes

Maybe Riot GameS will release another game and we'll all play that instead.

This season was horrendous and Riot has slowly been reverting some changes. Yes REVERTING. They never admit to their faults.. but you can see it happening

La Barbotte5/13/2016, 6:24:05 PM2 votes

same, since season six all i do league related is read the boards once in a while and watch nighblue3, playing isnt fun anymore, its 3/4 of the time a painfull game filled with hate and inflated egos and the remaining games are simple normal games nothing exiting anymore, for me at least

General Esdeath 5/13/2016, 3:07:17 PM2 votes

I was playing more because I got a new PC and wanted gold. Now that I got it I pretty much just try for the first win of the day.

Cheese Pope5/13/2016, 5:10:52 PM1 votes

I think it's because you are tiring out of League. I started back in Season 4, but when I really started to play the game was in Season 5. Lots of people say that they really hate this season, but I personally like it more than Season 5. I am also playing less games, but it's not because of the season. That's just my input

Only casuals turn to Overwatch. It's basically TF2 with powers. I don't see why it should be a threat. Eventually the "meta" will be unveiled and everyone will pick that one hero that is super op. It's just new, that's all.

I don't see how a game with Pixar styled storytelling could rival League in any way other than popularity.
