Why this game, and all others like it, need point-and-click CC.
I see this as a point that's brought up frequently. How OP/braindead/cancerous characters like
are just to name a few. How people just love to lampoon their point-and-click long duration/powerful CC.
But these same people never seem to realize that it's an integral part to game balance. That this kind of CC is incredibly important to keeping another subset of characters in check. The main reason that not everything can be a skillshot.
Characters with high, or very high mobility. If you take away everything reliable, you get what happens when someone plays
or
against something like
or
. It's an impossible matchup because none of their skills (except Cho's R of course) are guaranteed, all are high value CD's, and you just end up having to either focus 100% on farming while they beat you to hell, or you just lose outright.
So the next time you go to write a big essay on how OP Irelia's stun is, or how Annie gets to "omg q ult dead", or how Malzahar just hit R on you and you get to do nothing in a fight, remember that these skills exist for a reason. Think what the game would be like if you were facing a Yasuo, Riven, Fizz, or Lee Sin and everything is a skillshot. That's a game you don't want to play.
And to Riot. Before you go nerfing this subset of skills, consider what I've said here. Consider that a little bit of consistency in a kit isn't a bad thing. The main problems I have with
etc. reworks is by stripping out consistency, you're making mobility more and more powerful one rework at a time without even touching the mobile characters.
who is entirely reliant on a slow skillshot will dumpster
and
and most assassins pretty handily. you just play differently when accounting for mobility
