Is Riven worth buying?
Normally I play Mage Champions, Riven only hits when she is close to the enemy right? Is there also a way to test her without the free week? Is she worth buying with IP/RP? Also can you tell me some tips/tricks? Thanks!

She's one of the most difficult champions in the entire game. If you're not good at her, it's laughably easy to shit on you.
On the other hand, if you become talented, or even extremely talented, the rewards are through the roof. 3 of the top 5 Challengers in the past used to be Riven mains or something of that sort, if I remember correctly.
Use IP on champs RP ONLY for skins
She's really strong in the hands of Riven mains, and only a few of them usually. She has an extremely high skill cap, I own her but never bother playing her myself since I am more of a jack of all trades and could never pull of the crazy plays Riven needs to do to win games.
If you're willing to put in the time to learn Riven's mechanics, you'll be rewarded. She isn't a champion you can simply pick up and play effectively.
