Master Yi

I have playing Master Yi for a few years now and have just recently hit 400k mastery with him. This season i find it harder than ever to play master yi. Games are ending allot earlier than they used to and if you get behind as yi, it is pretty much over. Yi is an all in melee champion and is usually pretty squishy and most vulnerable in team fights. With these items becoming a part of most champions builds item 3157 item 3026 (and the new 600gp one time use zhonias) i am finding it extremely difficult to get resets with my ultimate. The nerf to Yi's ult duration and the new "tank meta" is making it harder to get that first kill to even be useful in teamfights. He has only two real build paths to make him useful

  1. On hit with rageblade, bork, bloodrazor
  2. crits with IE and static shiv for 1) it takes a long time to even proc rageblade for yi to do damage for 2) it makes him very squishy and vulnerable.

With new and existing "reworked" champions allot of damage and having cc in their kits, it is even getting hard to 1v1 them. (champions like Kayn Ornn Galio Warwick Xayah to name a few)

All this is not to mention how bugged yi's q is. You may laugh at the phrase "i was in alpha" but it really does suck when you are in an important game. Many items now offer moment speed and i am finding it hard to even catch up to enemy champions with my ult.

Here on some things i would like to see changed about master yi:

  • Ult duration increased to 11 seconds -The passive on ult (Champion kills and assists reduce the remaining cooldown of Master Yi's basic abilities by 70%.) moved to his champion passive to make him be able to compete in the early game. I also believe that on a kill or assist, alpha strike and his E cooldown would be refunded. This would allow him to not get blown up after getting one kill in a team fight. -Ult cooldown decreased to 40 seconds. Master yi is very heavily reliant on his ultimate to be useful in 1v1's and teamfights. I should not be on such a long cooldown. -make ult movement speed higher (or maybe scale with AD or attack speed) -New ult passive: when activated yi removes all cc (like alistar's ult)

Before you go and scream how yi is op and he needs nefs and so on please look into his win rate over time and how the game has changed to early game dominance. I am currently plat 4 and am struggling to play him because he is just not good enough to compete with the current meta.

Let me know what you think,

Marco

Dont bother. Wood Division Heroes will keep Yi jailed in dumpster cause they cant play.

Yi ult has become extremely easy to avoid and wait for it to end before Yi gets any resets, his 1v1 potential is also limited af, like you mentioned, games ends too early for him to get enough items to become viable.

Im playing once per month to maintain D5, and if nothing changes im done with LoL.

You and me both fam, as a yi main since preseason 3 I have experienced it all. (AP, AD, On-Hit)

Unfortunately the amount of low elo players who complain about him being "op and no skill" far exceeds the players who actually play him and know his strengths and MANY weaknesses.

In my opinion just giving yi his full resets should be a good enough buff to make the crit build a viable alternative to the on-hit build. But I guess for now we just live with the handicapped yi until rioto does something about him.

Trip down memory lane to full reset Yi in season 3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQAlqQxvlu8

Yi is an ancient relic and a low elo pub stomper, he's not supposed to be viable at higher elos.
