Short version: You take the blame for everything that goes wrong.

Salson11/25/2017, 1:59:15 PM15 votes

So if i understand that right a Jungler **everyone **has to carry every game 1v9?

Yup.

Getting everything is something a Diamond Jungler would do in a Silver game. A more realistic goal would be to simply do more than the enemy.

They do a gank, you do a gank and take their Blue. They do a Drake, you do a gank and a Herald.

In order to climb, you only really need to do more than the opposition.

Feathermane11/25/2017, 4:11:42 PM12 votes

The bar is actually pretty low. Do SOMETHING. Don't just watch as the enemy jungler does 12 ganks and always be 10 steps behind him. If all your solo laners are Vladimirs constantly playing under the enemy tower, and your bot lane is under turret with 15% hp (as mine always are), do whatever you want because the game is already lost.

Oh, and please don't ping Baron and when we get it down to half ping your Smite which is unavailable for 34 seconds.

PhearBunny11/25/2017, 2:07:54 PM7 votes

Your job as a jungler.

Help laners that CAN be helped. Ignore lanes that CANT be helped. Snowball who you can. in doing so you'll indirectly gain objective control over drag.

only sub 50% winrate, sub gold players blame junglers for their own personal failures. Its not your responsibility to carry their lane when they hardcounter champ selected themselves, and theres no prayer than you can 1v2 his enemy laner, ESPECIALLY if a countergank happens. These are the lanes that need to just be ignored, and left to (hopefully) lose gracefully.

Tactrix11/25/2017, 1:11:27 PM7 votes

Your job as the JG is to bare blame, you're expected to solo win the game, anything short of that is entirely your fault, even if your entire team quits and its 1v5 you are the reason why. Which is why the #1 priority of the jg is to /mute all.

Taeseuk11/25/2017, 1:19:06 PM6 votes

I feel bad for the jg these days, they're getting the same blame as supports got a while back.

Personally as long as the jg isn't coming into my lane and just dying I don't care what they're doing, yeah it would be nice of they got the dragon or were able to tank but as long as they're placing wards and not feeding lanes I could care less.

Thefrostyviking11/25/2017, 2:09:45 PM6 votes

I shall explain it to the best of my abilities, thus bear with me if i might sound a tad bit off at times as i do not jungle too much and thus might miss something.

Let's get started shall we?

As a jungler, you have the tremendous responsibility of save your poor laners from imminent demise at the hands of the terrifying existence known as the enemy jungler, you must protect and watch over them to ensure that calamity does not come to pass when they go too far with no safety arranged.

You must also size all the dragons, herald, and barons, as they are important to a team's success, as well as the first tower, because you as a jungler have the ability to move in and tilt the people scales in various places.

Then the final and greatest test, is to save your own teammates from themselves as they inevitably take some manner of foolish actions and end up in a crisis.

If you can do all this you are a excellently qualified parent jungler.

Short version: Pick 2

  1. Powerfarm

  2. Get botlane ahead

  3. Get a lane ahead that can kill ADC's/enemy members that can kill your ADC

Daddy Tie Me Up11/25/2017, 3:57:57 PM5 votes

Your job as jungler is exactly waht youve described. And since enemy is going to do same, if you do worse, you suck.

SooFr0sty11/26/2017, 2:41:32 AM4 votes

You're so expected to gank the LeBlanc by 2 minutes for your Katarina, if not, it's your fault she's feeding.

The Yetii Rider11/25/2017, 6:06:26 PM3 votes

There are three roles for the jungler. These roles are EXCLUSIVE, you can only do one of these and there are junglers that are good at each.

Role 1 Ganking - The high risk, high reward early game strategy. You farm to level 3 as quickly as possible, gank lanes over and over, trying to get lanes ahead. You want champions with high base damage, high mobility, and quick clear speed. Elise, Lee Sin, and Graves are examples of this.

Role 2 Control - A medium risk, medium reward role that aims to retake the game in the team fight stage. Rather than ganking, you try and invade each time the jungler reveals himself. You take his camps and set him back in XP and gold. The jungler focuses on providing team buffs to the group with dragons, Gerald and Baron. You Sneak these, and so you must be able to solo epic monsters very early. Nunu, Skarner, and Trundle are examples of this.

Role 3 - Farming - The low risk, low reward late game role. You clear camp's constantly, base and buy more stars to clear faster. Farm and farm and farm. You get up to three or four items with no one to stop you, and then you come out of the jungle to 1v5 carry. Master Yi, Jax and Shyvana are examples of this.

Now in previous seasons, ganking countered farming (you lost the game before you hit your power spike), control countered ganking (you got your laners ahead but you were totally useless), and farming countered control (usually control junglers are tanks who get slaughtered by duelists, the farmer clears his jungle faster than the control can invade). Now, however, the creation of Stalker's Blade (Smite as a combat spell that steals MS) and the removal of Sight wards (ganking results in kills more frequently), camps respawn more slowly (you can clear all of them and then they dont respawn for you to keep farming) and dragons no longer give team gold, all of these things result in ganking being the strictly best strategy.

That said, fuck your team mates. Play whatever game you want. If you want to gank, do it when you want. If you want to farm, tell your team they get no ganks.

ªTeemo11/25/2017, 4:56:35 PM3 votes

As a former jungle main I think the biggest pain is when your teammates are complaining about having 0 dragons while they didn't even try to help you take them. Yes some champions can solo drake but if the enemies group for it and your team doesn't then you just can't take it unless you steal it which isn't always an option and it's a risky 50/50 play at best.

Hügö11/25/2017, 8:30:43 PM3 votes

The job went from "Win against your enemy jungler" to "Ward more then your support, perma ping danger and take all objectives while perma ganking". It's not that uncommon that all your lanes overextend and then getting ganked like retards because they a) didn't ward, b) ward but didn't look at it.

Tibold11/25/2017, 11:31:58 PM2 votes

Here's a resume of a bad jungler's routine: -Farm -Fail that easy gank -Feeds every lane -Gets blamed for loss Here's the routine of a good jungler! -Ward the Map -Gets the objectives when we need them -Ganks Lanes Actively -Splitpush -Get flamed because they don't like you taking their exp -Tilt and become a Toxic player due to everyone feeding -If you win, nobody cares about you. If you lose, everything's blamed on you -Never play jungler again unless you become completely indifferent about the chat

Junglers in a nutshell

Autrah Fang11/26/2017, 1:48:45 AM2 votes

{quoted}

What is the job of the jungler?

do literally everything by yourself and let your team take the credit.

if you don't you get flamed for trolling and being the reason you lost XD

WalkingInACircle11/25/2017, 5:29:42 PM2 votes

Pressure the map. Its not about doing everything, its about doing something, especially relative to what your opponents are doing. You are the early game play maker.

Djiro11/26/2017, 12:28:55 AM1 votes

yes

Sintama11/26/2017, 1:32:35 AM1 votes

I just wish the worst thing my laners did was fall behind on farm. Instead, they use 2 wards per game and go 0/5 by 3:00.

Wyrmblade11/26/2017, 2:03:51 AM1 votes

Help lanes. There were times where powerfarming was acceptable but not anymore. Your job is just to try as hard as you can to help lanes succeed and help winning lanes succeed even further. It is completely possible for you to lose the lane for one of your laners by not doing anything to help them. An obvious example would be Vayne top, if the jungler helps gank her then you have a guaranteed won lane, otherwise the top will likely get kited to hell, tilted and unable to do anything. However you should be ignoring everything everyone in your elo (IE: your team) says because they are only as intelligent as their elo. Unless you're aiming for their elo you shouldn't be listening to their heat of the moment rage-advice.

Best Ekko NA11/26/2017, 2:08:15 AM1 votes

Why do you think the Jungler is the most replaced position on every team, every single year, in professional League of Legends? Jungling is the position on the map that moves around more than anyone else and thus they have the hardest choices to make.

Good junglers win games, bad junglers lose them.

UnknownTerritory11/26/2017, 10:32:34 AM1 votes

Jungler job is to help when needed but a junlger is not supposed to win lanes...People have to win their lanes alone.

Xyrov11/26/2017, 2:27:55 PM1 votes

As a jungler here is my advice The moment the game starts, press Tab and mute everyone Do your own thing, ignore useless pings that has nothing to do with enemy being missing or any danger Gank the lane you think is gonna do well later on Don't waste your time on lanes that push under the enemy tower all time then cry about being ganked. You will do well.

Elkington11/26/2017, 2:34:14 PM1 votes

The approach changes based on the jungler you're playing, but ultimately your job is map control.

PhDs Nuts11/25/2017, 3:47:08 PM1 votes

Tell your mid laner when it's time to 4v2 dive bot lane, and hope you can do it before the enemy team does.

Wizzleboom11/25/2017, 5:10:36 PM1 votes

Mute all and PvE into a giant snowball because your team are potatoes.

Blackstone0111/25/2017, 6:37:22 PM1 votes

When I'm jungler (in ranked) my job is to tilt an enemy into the stratosphere before my team tilts. Usually first team to start raging loses.

MadViking11/25/2017, 7:42:03 PM1 votes

Help your adc, secure objs, ward river and gank routes, try to apply as much pressure as you can to your weakest lane so that they might have an opportunity to come back or at least prevent teammate tilt.

Other than that, your biggest responsibility is to bare the blunt of all lane failures . Lel.

Honestly though the only time I yell at jungles is if they try to gank someone while they are in a massive minion wave and die. Sometimes they blame me for dying but really that shit is your fault. Don't gank someone at level 2 in 2 full minion waves and expect to get anything out of it.

Valderis Vandala11/25/2017, 2:49:01 PM1 votes

Yup. Your job as Jungler is pure stress, stress for you, stress for your team, and stress for the enemy.

Have fun. XD

Rito Pls Nerf Vi11/25/2017, 10:40:55 PM1 votes

This is the whole problem with League at the moment, riot cant seem to decide whether or not it should be a team game. they bring out the new dragons and shit and that's the most important. they bring out the new runes, and the correlation between dragons and winning now is the winning team gets more dragons, they don't win BECAUSE they have more dragons, they win and get more dragons along the way because they are ahead.

think about it, if the enemy jungler steals an infernal, you still win the game 99% of the time, and the 1% that you lose, is because of the late game shot calling missteps, not due to the dragon

Troll for Trump11/25/2017, 10:41:18 PM1 votes

You get to do the most amount of stuff, but you get the most amount of blame

Truly Prideful11/25/2017, 10:46:21 PM1 votes

All I expect of my team's jungler is that they do something on the map other than hard farm. I only get annoyed when I've been ganked 6 times and I see that we've gotten nothing on the map even though we've known exactly where the enemy jungler has been. If you're stealing all of his camps while he sits and camps a lane, cool. Grabbing objectives like turrets or dragons, awesome. Getting another lane ahead, also awesome. Just be active somewhere and I'll be perfectly happy.

SolomonnG11/26/2017, 4:30:38 PM

Jg's job is to mute everyone and afk farming.[zombie-brand-mindblown]
