To my ARAM Players

Well we got some SR or TT players that are going to dislike this just because I am going to talk about them negatively. If you are one of these people then go ahead an get sensitive because it's what I want. ARAM is a format, a format that I know some people only play. These exclusive ARAM players are looked down upon and disrespected because they don't play SR or TT ranked or not. And then you have these TT and SR players come to ARAM and declare "it's just a fun format" and then ruin the ARAM player's experience. This is of course okay though because it isn't in SR or TT I am saying normals not even ranked. Just a bit of respect for those unknown players that are jacks of all trades and master of none. If you are an ARAM main player shout out to you and you rock. I can respect the level of adaption it takes to play a random champ every game, other players that don't are just foolish. ARAM people are people too. Just because they choose to not play ranked or SR or TT doesn't mean this entitles them to a shitty game experience because an SR or TT player gets a champ that isn't their main.

I love ARAM, but this event has brought people who are literally just there to get gold and assists and do not even try to do anything else. I also have never seen so many passive people in ARAM, for some reason everybody likes to sit under turret and die instead of being aggressive.

I exclusively play ARAM, and when people say shit like "it doesn't matter, it's just ARAM", I want to clobber them over the head. It doesn't matter, it's just a video game. Nothing matters. What's the point.

ARAM is my fave mode! Its exciting, and no game is the same. There are some who come in and complain about things like "ARAM is broken", the match-ups are unfair" "FF at 15", "I give up, its only ARAM anyway". That bugs me because ARAM is a random and fun game mode yes, but some of us exclusively play it and don't think of it "only ARAM". It can be difficult, and one sided at times. Sometimes you get the dream team, sometimes you face the dream team. That's what makes it interesting! Especially when you win, with only your Nexus left at half health!

Yeah, its a shame SR didn't get the Bilgewater update too. It seems like so many people have no clue about what they are doing now. Its almost as if the games aren't even the same. Since the event, I have noticed several people dying over CS, some dudes not picking snowball, and a hefty increase in toxicity as well. (Why u no surrender, you must be troll, we already lost 1 turret omfg)

And some people builds....

I see people buy item 1026 or item 1058 at the start saying "I'll do more damage" and I thinking "But you will have no mana after 1 spell rotation."

As a frequent aram and normal player, I feel like I can empathize with both sides.

Some things I think we should keep in mind for Aram-only players :

Your teammate may have randomly received a champion they have never played before. Do not rage at a teammate because they don't know what to build or a champion's specific mechanics. It's just encouraging a climate of "get your good champions or dodge". Do not expect a first-timer to carry, even if they have a carry champion. Encourage your ally to play safely and use whatever other team strengths you have to your advantage. Realize that some players use Aram to wind down after ranked. Be helpful, if you know the best build path provide that information without nitpicking every detail about a teammates performance.

Some things to remember for casual or infrequent Aram players :

Remember that some people take this mode seriously, so make sure to put effort into your gameplay. Do not be the yolo Yasuo I had a few games ago who literally dived the enemy team solo 1v5 after every single respawn (ending 5/20/9 and taking up half of our teams total deaths). This person literally didn't put any effort whatsoever into his gameplay, this amounts to little more than intentionally feeding. Look up quick guides for your champion during the loading screen to get an idea about the champions build or abilities. If you don't know how to play your champion at all, your best move is to play safely, support your team as best you can (purchase oracles, or team items like locket or frozen heart), and do not feed carelessly.

To everyone: Be cool, do your best, flame is lame, focus Soraka.

I mean, I don't deny assholes existing, but warranting some PSA on it? ARAM is meant to be a fun gamemode, most of the time used to unwind after a bad SS game.

I don't take ARAM too seriously. If I'm going to build weirdly it will be in an aram or something, that doesn't mean I'm trolling you or ruining the game mode. Even if i do some strange build I'm still going to tryhard mechanically. And it's not like I won't do this in normals either. I might do AP panth in aram because it's silly but if i hit an ult on people it will do a ton of damage and it is better in aram since it will always be vs 5 people and is in a smaller area. Not to mention the stun damage also scales well. I just wouldn't play ap panth in summoners rift because my laning phase would be atrocious.

I'm not trolling you i promise. It might looks like I am but I'm not I promise. I still want to win and I'm still gonna try hard even if i'm building differently. I'm not going to do anything completely outrageous.

ARAM as a gamemode hasn't even been in the game anymore for several months. The mode you are looking for is Poro King.

I haven't played much the past couple days, so I can't speak to how the event is changing things, but as an ARAM main, I still do appreciate the "it's just ARAM" attitude (to an extent). ARAM being a lot more relaxed is one of the reasons I prefer it over other game modes, but I do find it very annoying when even if the matchup is heavily leaning towards one team, SR players often just don't even try to win, etc. Part of ARAM is that you gotta try to make it work no matter what, & if you lose, well that's okay but at least be able to say you tried

You sound drunk, or south american, or possibly both.

Not even any mention of dominion...

BastionKross7/24/2015, 2:42:31 PM1 votes

It's the same thing that happens to every map when there's an event going on. A bunch of players who don't even know the basics of fighting on the map flood the queue because they want to play the event. On SR it's not as prevalent since most League players know the basics of the Rift (the meta, how the jungle works, what buffs are, etc.)

However, with the other maps, it's not like that. I remember during the Shurima event we had Ascension on a modified Dominion map. People who've never played, or wanted to play, Dominion flooded that map and then were confused when it came time to capture relics. Sure, they got the hang of it after a game or two, but your patience runs thin when you get players who've never seen the Dominion map before call jungle in champ select.

And not as a joke.

The best thing you can do to get these ARAM newbies in line is to give them tips on how to play the game mode. For example:

  1. summoner 13 is actually a damn fine summoner spell in ARAM.
  2. On your first buy, sustain is generally more important than damage. Potions, mana/health regen, and lifesteal are pretty important. I don't care that you grabbed a item 1058 if you're out of mana and can't use it after three abilities.
  3. summoner 32 is very important for melee champs.
  4. item 3083 is a great item to keep you healthy if you're getting poked down.
  5. item 3301 item 3302 item 3303 aren't just for supports.
  6. Bush control is key, especially since there are no wards. Do not facecheck if you even suspect an ambush.
  7. Be patient. Not every team comp is going to be able to go ham at level 3.
