Is Banning an Annoying Champ really the Best Idea?

I was a Zed main since his release. Sure I practiced a lot with him and seen Faker's crazy play.

With the near end of Season 5 and beginning of... Season 6, people are complaining about him more often and now theres a high banrate for him in ranked. That pretty much made me stop playing Zed for a while. Mainly because he gets banned too often and I was not fond of Mid lane in it's current state(love my mages more than Zed).

BUT the point of this topic is, should you always ban champs like Zed and not learn to deal with him better? Sure some champs are almost near impossible to deal with, but LESSONS ARE MADE TO BE HARSH- I mean peeps need to to learn to fight him better otherwise if you see him, your experience in fighting him will be rather low, resulting in getting destroyed and still blame the Champ's OPness.

And example would be my first Zed game in Season 6. It was against a pretty good counter, Talon. I was really worried because I have little experience in fighting Talon(because Talon players are so damn rare), but I was able to win the laning phase due to the Talon player not making good use of his kit to counter mine such as ulting during my ult to reduce damage I can inflict. A course I felt bad because I played a champ everyone hates almost as much as Teemo and Fizz.

Sure you can watch videos and read threads on how to counter these champs, but sometimes the better way is to have hands on experience. Player's(and myself) would find practicing fighting Zed in a Sandbox mode or to a lower extent Custom Battles would help players better deal with the sneaky ninja. No repercussions. LP? Not lost. A jab at your winrate? You lost not game Have shuriken dodging lessons until dodging them is a reflex to ya, predict when hes gonna do this or that, calculate when is the right time to do your invulnerability ult(Kayle, Liss, Vlad..... Fizz) before his Death Mark procs.

Whatever you do. Please learn to fight some of these "OP" champs..... Unless its Ekko.

The reason to ban champs like Zed, like Ekko, like Malzahar is that they have the potential to completely take over the game to such a state that it requires your entire TEAM to play a certain way to deal with them. It's not about you losing lane to them, it's that they are just so damn obnoxious and have such carry potential, even if you're very good, if you're not equally fed, you simply can't fight a Zed with farm.

You can't.

Probably you can't even if you have your jungler and support there. You just have to not let him get more fed and in most elos, that's not a thing teams are able to do. A fed Zed will get more fed and that will make your team tilt and then you lose and there was never really anything you can do about it.

So yes, by all means continue to perma ban him even though there are higher winrate champs out there.

the reason why he permabaned now is cause of qss nerf and ad champs have no way of dealing with him except for guardian angel which is a once every 5 min counter

None of those are good poll options.

The purpose of the ban system is to call attention to OP champs through their ban rate. When a champion receives an unusually large portion of the bans, it means that champion is likely in need of some tuning.

By the same token, it could be said that champions receiving an unusually low ban rate are presenting a low threat to the enemy team, and might need a buff.

I like the use of the term tuning here. Not all bans are due to broken champs. For about a week after Bard came out people were banning him so team mates wouldn't play him.

Idk, maybe this comment is out of place in this discussion. I am tired. Night all.

No no no no no no no no. The purpose of the Ban system is so you can create a team comp and ban out counters. Its strategy of the game not a data collecetion of whats op

In a world where Riot's balance team pulls their heads out of their asses and brings the number of "must-ban" champs down to one or two, bans should be used against annoying champs, or champs that hard counter your pick, or champs that counter your teamcomp.

However, at this moment there are around nine or ten must pick/ban champions that are simply in a league above most of the roster. It's not that they're broken or bugged, it's that it takes so much effort to stop them from bending over your team and showing you all where the wild goose goes that you significantly improve your chances of winning a game by simply not letting the other team have them. And that's a bad thing. Your bans should go toward champions that give you or your team trouble, not the same handful all the time.

Like it or not, Zed is a member of that group. He's not unbeatable, but players have so much trouble trying to control him compared to the vast majority of other champions that they'd rather just ban him off and not bother to spend hours learning to counterplay a single champion. And it's hard to blame them. You don't sit down and practice counterplaying Fiddle, or Amumu, or Jax. You don't need to; they all have windows of weakness that you can quickly identify and easily take advantage of. Zed, not so much.

If people are more likely to lose when dealing with "annoying champs", then yes. I mean, people ban things so they are less likely to lose.
