RANKED IS BROKEN

Most of us have been there...stuck in Bronze hell because of feeders, afks, low skill level, negative attitude or other issues, but before we get to that a little bit about me. I have been playing the game almost from the start. I was never serious about it, never played ranked games however I always have loved the game. As my skill improved over several years I decided to play ranked games for the challenge of it and to play against other semi-serious players however lower ELO has almost made me want to quit and the design of advancing out of Bronze is broken in my opinion and that brings us back to my opening statement. I am not the best player but I'm not Bronze either, but I am stuck there for the aforementioned reasons plus more. Riot needs to take a serious look at this or my conclusion I'm coming to realize is to have someone more advanced carry me. This however brings us back around to the original problem of the system being broken. I'm not sure I have an answer just feeling frustrated about the situation. All comments are welcome or if you want to team up with a GOOD not great player stuck in Bronze let me know.

If you're truly not bronze, you would rise up out of bronze. You've played over 400 ranked games, that should be somewhat of an indicator where your skill level currently sits. While it's easy to blame everyone else, think of it this way. Your team has 4 random variables, the other team has 5 random variables. Statistically, the team with the 1 constant that were above b4 in skill would win more games than it lost.

Saintvicious got hacked and had his elo set to 0 years ago. While I think riot did eventually fix it, he was climbing back up at a pretty rapid pace. https://youtu.be/1vmD_gMDJnc?t=23m11s https://youtu.be/RGszqw1y4EE?t=5m39s

If you're a Diamond player maybe you can make it out of Bronze however I am not a Diamond player. Like I said I'm simply better than Bronze. For arguments sake lets see how long it would take a Gold player to start over and make it out of Bronze and back up to Gold. Any takers?

Not going to lie...... sounds like a lot of fun. I have tried to reach bronze 5 in the past but lowest I could get is bronze 4 :((. Guess I am not cool enough to be bronze 5.

Edit: Where do I sign up?

Yes exactly this.

There is greater chance smurf will end up in enemy team , so odds are against you :D. Enjoy.

The math equation is being way over simplified and the equation came out before dynamic queue. This stood out more the years before Dynamic queue. Now a days, this equation does not stand anymore as it makes no sense. The fact is you can not know how many people are paired together and if they're smurfing or being boosted as it seems to be more prevalent today more now than it ever has been in the past and your skill level at most, can be considered only as average for your rank which creates huge disadvantages. If you played up in bronze or silver, you'll noticed games go 1 way and 1 way only. 1 team steamrolls the other team. Very rarely do the 2 teams duke it out and have a close decent match.

I fail to see how if you have 1 player who's constantly playing at above a bronze level, your chances of winning aren't going to be above 50%. Isn't playing in an elo below your skill level essentially the equivalence of smurfing?

LOL... like yea ok dynamic queue does make things a little different. But honestly..... low elo especially silver & bronze it literally changes nothing. Unless your around like diamond, you cant use dynamic queue as an excuse to not rank up.

I have literally ranked two accounts up this season through bronze and silver to gold. I have played many many many many close games, and won a lot of them. Why? Because players like you give up. Its like 0-5 and people say "omg were done gg". But the thing is...... that's nothing. Even down 10-20 or 5-20. Like.. its low elo.... pretty much everyone sucks. Most players don't know how to end. Yea your not going to win every game and that's fine. As long as you win enough to rank up is all that matters.

I saw a post yesterday where someone said "only difference between silver & gold is gold players know they suck". And its pretty much the truth. Once you accept you have things to learn, it opens your mind to learn new things. Then implement those strategies, and things you learn into rank and see your rank rise if done correctly.

LIke your silver 5 with a 77-102 record. I consider anything under silver 2 an elo I don't really have to try in. Does that make me good? No. Just means I know the game enough to play with people around that skill level without much difficulty. Other players like pros can hard carry games in plat and certain areas of diamond and consider those games easy. Its just their knowledge and skill is so high that a vast majority of players can't keep up with them. Not trying to make fun of people, just trying to open peoples eyes that there is a lot to learn in this game and by making up excuses for not ranking up all their doing is limiting themselves.

Agreed! That's why I said the system is broken. To blame it one one player is an over simplification.

Its always been that way. I have played from the start as well and only started playing ranked back in season 2. I was bronze like 1000 elo (which is like bronze 4 i think). It seemed like hell and it was because people were pissed that they were 200 mmr/elo w/e away from silver so people just flammed, trolled, afked, or just sucked. I didn't really try to rank up until season 3 when they introduced the new ranked system. At least now ranks had divisions and LP so instead of worrying about winning enough games to get 200 elo I could just focus on getting that 100 lp and winning promos. Anyways... even though games sucked and I saw a lot of poor play, I ranked up to silver quick enough. The thing I started to realize is although I played the game forever, I was still pretty bad. But then I got silver and started to feel better and felt like I was "good". Well I grind silver for a couple of seasons not being able to get past silver 2 when I finally realized "holy damn even after thousands of games I am still bad at this game and have a lot to learn". So I started reading guides, watching videos, and just stopped getting pissed at my teams and started focusing on myself. Next thing I knew I was gold. And I still realize I have a ton to learn, but I also learned a lot in the process and now ranking up out of bronze and most of silver is pretty easy for me.

The rank system is not perfect, but the argument of bronze is broken or silver is broken is bs. Ranked is all about learning the game and adapting to your surroundings. To get out of bronze, you have to carry more. You have to learn how to get fed, and be able to win those team fights without getting much help from your team. However, the good news is the enemy players are fairly unskilled and unorganized as well so beating them is not too difficult. Same principle applies to silver with a little more help from your team. Gold players throw games all the time and that's where I am at. I know a lot of what to do, but not always what to do, still lack some mechanics, and overall still have things to learn. But that is the process.

I've tried the carry role and had better luck with being a tank. Everyone thinks they can carry and Riots changes over the years has made the game more dependent on TEAM WORK (which I like) more than one person carrying like way back in the day. Once again this is a team game. The advantage will go to the people not in solo-que.

Everyone feels this way at one point or another I feel. I have played this game for just over a year and I am a silver player. I remember being stuck in Bronze 4 and 5 and feeling the way you do. I suggest you find a more experienced player to DUO with. This will help you climb and give you a partner to learn from. If you continue to solo que I would just recommend putting yourself in a better position to climb. Play champions that excel in lower elo and try to stay in Top, Mid or Jungle. For example, I played Garen top which helped me get out. It's not always fun, be he is a solid champion that can carry and excel late game.

I've been trying to find some Duo's but no luck. I meet someone that's good in one game...team up and they are actually not that good.

Get to plat 1 if you wana complain about elo hell.

You have item 3078 TahmKench claiming he doesn't need to build tank, and then goes off and dies 20 times. These diamond 5 players are a hell of a lot worse than bronze. I honestly think more than 50% of these people are boosted, or bought their account.

And before you say "its the same thing" or "you see this feeding in all elos" I can assure you that you do not.

In bronze, everyone is bad. EVERYONE. You can get fed off anyone and stomp the game. You can carry solo because they make so many mistakes that they start off 0/10 at the 10 minute mark.

In silver, some people are ok, everyone else is bad. Find the bad players, and repeat step for bronze.

In gold, there really is no secret. The people that are boosted here just wanted the rewards and aren't going to play ranked. Therefore, the only way to improve is better.

In Plat, it's the exact same thing as gold, HOWEVER...

In Plat 1, you have diamond 5's. Boosted or not, most of them will be complete trash. The problem is, people dont make as many mistakes. Its not like silver where you find the boosted animals and get fed off them. The boosted kid is either hidden in support, doing absolutely nothing, screwing over his adc, or he's standing by his tower screwing ur team over. He only shows how bad he is in teamfights, when you don't expect it to be 4v5. Your team looks grouped up, but as soon as you start fighting, he tp's bot to get a tower, or he looks at how beautiful the grass is today.

Lastly, before you comment on this, the boosted diamond 5's aren't going to stop playing like the boosted gold 5's did. They HAVE to play, otherwise they will drop due to decay.

I'm finished with my rant now :P

I hear complaints about boosted diamond & plat players a lot. I just have to assume its probably true as sad as it is. Never will understand why people want to get boosted.

Snowball4u1 votes

some people want to be the best, and they think if they are magically dropped off in plat/diamond, they will know exactly how to play like one and will no longer be stuck in "elo hell"

So what if you're in bronze? Don't take yourself so seriously and just focus on improving and you will climb. The worst thing you can do in bronze is focusing on win or loss and instead focus on your actual play.

Limit champ pool, figure out your laning tendencies and see if you can win lane your lane or go even. If you are a go even kind of guy maybe learn to roam or shut down junglers.

I was bronze earlier this season and the best you can do is find something that works for you, for instance I played with a bard player for 4 games straight and EVERY game this guy would invade the jungler at level 2 and kill them at their buff. We won every game this guy did this and while I couldn't pull it off this guy was a pro at it lol.

TL;DR find what you're good at, champ wise and possible cheese strat wise since they're OP in bronze.

I feel your pain. My advise to you is to play a carry role, play as selfish as possible and carry your self out of bronze.

as crazy as this sounds, its the only way to climb in ranked you wont win every game, but if you constantly winning your lane law of averages, u will eventually get out of bronze and move up.

good luck bro.

on a side note, you played this game for several years and still got put in bronze?

zhades1 votes

Yes. I never played ranked games and when I started I was placed in Bronze. That makes sense to me even though I don't like it.

The Deckowner1 votes

I mean... even if you don't play ranked you should still have better skill than bronze after playing for years.

It seems you don't understand the intent behind the post.
