Season reset question

Yes and no, it'll help the game have a base on where to put you for placements. But tank placements and you could drop dramatically. do well and you might get same or higher
In more technical terms, consider that your mmr is about 2104. And if you moved up to platinum I, then that's about 2144 assuming you gain about 20 mmr per win and go 3-1 or 4-2 to get there. Then the default mmr is 1200 so you'd be at about 1652 mmr to start off with next season if you end where you're currently at or about 1662 if you get to platinum I first, assuming you go back to half your distance from average compared to where you are now. In other words, very small difference.
I would say a firm: "kind of but not really." Either way, ranked queues are going down soon, so unless you're already in promos, I doubt you'd be able to make it.
