Opinions of the Bilgewater "Event."
TL;DR: Personally I found this event to be terrible.
We start event off with mediocre rewards for playing certain game modes. I can find many things wrong with this. First off, some rewards require wins and certain upgrades. For example for one quest you need THIRTY level 3 brawler upgrades. That's extremely tedious and the reward is a measly SUMMONER ICON. That is not immersive and the quests and game modes immediately become a chore after the first few games.
Then GP died. Some may theorise that it is become a bug but the IGNORANT responses from Riot seem otherwise. It's been three days and each thread asking about GP's dead all received similar responses. "It's not a bug, MF blasted his head off and he's swimming with he sharks." etc. Most of us bought gangplank for his rework and are itching to play him but then Riot goes and disables him is borderline briefing. I spend 3150 IP which is around 30 first win of the days. One popular idea was to make spooky gangplank the default skin which would be a much better idea for the state of the game.
Most of the time, Riot's events were fun and enjoyable such as the pool party one where we get rewards for winning. This made us want to work towards the goal as a team. Making us play 30 games and killing off a central role isn't helpful.
The worst part of this is the satirical and ridiculing comments by the Rioters. If GP is disabled due to a bug, the Red Tracker says otherwise. It's as if they are making fun of us for buying GP. If I were them and I wanted to cover up the fact that killing of a champ is TERRIBLE, I would've just made the excuse of the GP barrel bug.
Come on Riot, you can do better.
