Opinions of the Bilgewater "Event."

TL;DR: Personally I found this event to be terrible.

We start event off with mediocre rewards for playing certain game modes. I can find many things wrong with this. First off, some rewards require wins and certain upgrades. For example for one quest you need THIRTY level 3 brawler upgrades. That's extremely tedious and the reward is a measly SUMMONER ICON. That is not immersive and the quests and game modes immediately become a chore after the first few games.

Then GP died. Some may theorise that it is become a bug but the IGNORANT responses from Riot seem otherwise. It's been three days and each thread asking about GP's dead all received similar responses. "It's not a bug, MF blasted his head off and he's swimming with he sharks." etc. Most of us bought gangplank for his rework and are itching to play him but then Riot goes and disables him is borderline briefing. I spend 3150 IP which is around 30 first win of the days. One popular idea was to make spooky gangplank the default skin which would be a much better idea for the state of the game.

Most of the time, Riot's events were fun and enjoyable such as the pool party one where we get rewards for winning. This made us want to work towards the goal as a team. Making us play 30 games and killing off a central role isn't helpful.

The worst part of this is the satirical and ridiculing comments by the Rioters. If GP is disabled due to a bug, the Red Tracker says otherwise. It's as if they are making fun of us for buying GP. If I were them and I wanted to cover up the fact that killing of a champ is TERRIBLE, I would've just made the excuse of the GP barrel bug.

Come on Riot, you can do better.

I'm just not interested in most of the champions associated with this event. I know they're popular, but they just aren't my thing. The icon rewards we got were mediocre, and I'll never use them because I'm not a Graves or Twisted Fate fan. I'm also not a GP fan, but I mean that was pretty lame of Riot to do. I don't think it was clever at all, and they didn't handle the situation well if there was a bug attached to him.

I wish there were other rewards we could have tried for because even if they were for champions I find interesting, like MF, I'd still find it mediocre. The game mode wasn't my cup of tea as well. The one thing I did like was the ARAM map and the artwork for the skins associated with the event. All very well done.

I kinda like the whole "oh he's dead" thing to cover his bug. From what I've seen in the rumor mill is friendly Dravens could attack the barrel and catch the axes stacking that passive indefinitely. That said how is buying this champion and having him disabled for a couple of days any different from, idk, the last few champions that have been released? He's an older champion too, "most of us" likely already had him.

That said this whole event has been pretty not fun in my opinion and I've decided not to partake aside from the game mode, the quests in ARAM can sing if they want me to complete them.

nice music

cool reskin for howling abyss but unfortunately it seems like it's leaving with the event so whatever

really lame quests for lame icons

pissing off GP players because hurr durr

a few lame skins

a game mode that really didn't live to expectation (and tbh i wasn't even expecting much out of it to begin with). Only real saving grace about it IMO is the mirror-thingy item (that makes you look like an allied champion)

I think that's all

I overall like the event.

The main thing is the whole theme of it, everything with the music, the new skins, Ganpglank rework, Miss Fortune buffs, the new ARAM map, the new log-in screens. They all really made the event feel like League of Legends was sort of Bilgewater is the best way I can explain it.

But I also loved the lore. All of the Acts were amazingly written and the champion biographies were awesome, specifically Miss Fortune's.

The only thing I have to complain about is that the Black Market Brawlers just isn't really that fun. I hate Blind Pick, I hate how pretty much all of the AD items are useless in most situations while the AP/Utility items are hilariously fun to play with and also effective, and I hate how the minions are either irrelevant or snowball really hard, but still aren't that intimidating until full leveled out. I think Black Market Brawlers would of been more fun if they gave the AD items more attention, made the Brawlers a lot more interactive (and buffed the Ocklepod and Cannon since they don't really have that many uses in comparison to the Razorfin or Ironback which also scale incredibly well into late game).

Yes GP was diabled due to a bug. The bug was between GP and Draven, Draven could infinitely stack his passive by hitting the barrels without destroying them. GP dying/disabled was not planned obviously since there is a bundle that went out specifically for him. The quests and icons are what you're really upset about, not the event, and yes I do agree its a grind for the last 2 released but hey its Riot. The focus of this even was not the new game mode nor the icons but the lore, which a few people dont care for but thats what the focus was.
