Why are we acting like malzahar mid is ineffective?

He has been above 50% winrate for a long time, he deals a crap ton of damage when he gets , has one of the safest and abusive laning phases and can get kills easy for his team when he hits level 6 with or . Who cares if he has a low pick rate, that's everyone else's loss. Also those nerfs didn't do jack to his damage. Malzahar is a beast.

Because now if you get a solo kill without being fed, it's because the enemy messed up BAD.

He's naturally weak to poke since he has low range and mobility.
And now with the triple nerf to his voidlings (mainly the 1 second delay before he's allowed to use the second one) assassins can dive him without him really being able to fight back.
Yes he can ult them in place, but he can no longer get his abilities stacked on them before he does... which is the main reason a dot mage has a "neither of us is doing anything for 2.5 seconds" ability.
Also, anyone with or completely dominates him.

Fortunately he can still farm from a fair distance and shred slow tanks who can't reach him.

Probably because his effectiveness is now directly controlled by your opponent's ability to play against malzahar, and has almost nothing to do with your ability to play malzahar.

The difference between a silver malz one-trick, and a diamond malz one-trick, is that the diamond can auto attack last hit, has better map awareness, and basically just better game knowledge.

The new kit, has an objectively correct way to time your abilities no matter the situation, because anything other than the designed optimal skill pattern results in exponential damage loss.
