With Lulu and Bard as the two main champions i play, i noticed that Bard's meeps essentially a spell on his auto attacks. By this i mean it is blocked by spell shields and banshee's. Pix, however, does not. She also can't damage the same person with her Q, but zed can. Kinda pisses me off she's not as privileged as other champions.
Spell shield blocks magic damage, not physical damage, spellshields also dont really block spells, they just stop the effects such as stuns slows snares etc etc, so zeds Q dosnt have any effect and does physical damage.
What you described actually sounds fine for Lulu, but bad for Bard.

Zed's Shadow then Q is just like Lulu's E onto a minion then Q. Rito what de fak, Zed's so much ripoffs on Lulu pls make him stahp.
