ELO for Support

While every part of a team in a LOL game is important, I feel that the roll of a support player is much more dependent on the rest of the team than any other roll. Granted, much of the item changes to help increase their gold count is appreciated, but I can't help but feel a touch of frustration when, as someone who genuinely enjoys and prefers the role of support, I am paired with a team that seems wanting on all fronts.

That is to say, while I could go on about the individual minutia of how one or multiple lanes may lose leaving but a single lane or jungler to rally the team, that after laning phase a support relies rather heavily on team fights to gain gold for their items and a poor team may well prevent a support from doing as much as they might otherwise outside of some meager CC or chip (for a support) damage, I feel that their should be some form of recourse or way for a support character to, if not gain ELO then to at least not lose any if their score or some other measure otherwise suggests that their work was at least adequate on a losing team.

True, this may be more than merely difficult to test let alone implement in my ignorance of algorithms and more, and it very well may simply be incumbent upon myself to find someone to duo-que with rather than leave myself to the whims of fate in solo-que, or perhaps their should simply be a cap on when this benefit to supports ends, be it gold, platinum, or what have you. I am but one man, and would appreciate the insight and perspective on my fellow gamers.
