Advice for winning?

Me- Trying to get into ranked more, but I get discouraged a lot because the ELO I am in has awful game management - and I can't learn for myself because there is nobody in a high elo to show me. I main Rengar Top - yes, it's still viable (not really) - and I win lane pretty much 100% of the time. My Rengar mechanics are very practiced, and I can play the champion well. But this is not the issue. My problem is that I hit a wall every time the game progresses past the beginning of midgame. At this point, people start roaming, and I start waffling. Either I stay in lane and push and cs and kill my opponent, or maybe I go to other lanes and kill them. Both work. However, after that, when teamfighting is being tested, I fail. Once the team starts roaming around the whole map, I get lost. What do I do? DO I go for kills? Do I oneshot the ADC and try and survive? Should I just act like a fighter in the teamfight? Maybe I should try and apply map pressure - if so, then where? This is the point where I lose my advantage, and I would really appreciate it if I could get some players with experience to give me advice to get out of this hole I dug myself. Thank you all!

I'll first answer your question then proceed to give my advice.

  • if you're playing rengar you need to get to the point where you can 1 shot the ADC in team fights, and this is what you should go for generally. You also should not be the one initiating, you should go in AFTER the fight started with your ultimate and some abilities are blown.

As for my advice, I recommend playing FOTM champions. Try the seasons current "op" champs and learn then, this is the easiest way to climb. Secondly, keep in mind if you pick a squishy top this makes a pretty decent chance for your team to not have a front line which is generally a horrible composition which will make you lose regardless of how well you do

Thanks for the advice!

I know, which is my biggest porblem. See, when I pick Rengar Top, I know that he's farily squishy, and if I sacrifice one of my items for tnkainess, then I lose my damage. I have to count on being able to scatter the enemy team (usually because they have poor cohesiveness) and killing them one by one while pushing with my massive AD. I do try to play FOTM champs, but it usually takes too much time to learn them well enough to play ranked, so they go out of meta. I'll try your advice, though! Thanks.

P.S. Would you say Fiora is a good pick?

Yea I think Fiora is a great pick, I mean even rengar top can be a solid pick if you're good with him but just keep in mind if you're picking after your jungler/support and they both have squishies it would be great to have a go to tank you can play top

Yeah I had Darius for that, but even in my ELO people have either realized or jsut unconsciously kite the ever-living **** out of him. He's honestly weak; he needs to build damage to get anything done in actual fights, but he dies then without tank. His passive is awful; 9 out of 10 times the enemies will NOT be letting you whack one of them 5 times with your snail's pace AAs. :C I guess it's time to learn Fiora lol.
