Nautilus Changes Are a Nerf

The base scaling on his W is up by 15 points at max rank, and the hp scaling at max rank is down 4%. He needs to have literally 375 max hp (201.48 LESS THAN HE HAS BASE AT LEVEL 1) at level 9 for this to break even. At 3k hp, he's **down **105 shield hp from before, 145 at 4k, and so on. Shield duration is down 40% too, but oh, the cd is down 6 seconds from 18 to 12. Am I reading this horribly wrong? This isn't a "durability buff," it's a nerf in a very bad disguise.

It's a durability buff for sustained fights, as if you build 40% cooldown (which Nautilus likes) your shield cooldown drops from 10.8 to 7.2 seconds, meaning you're getting about 25-30% more shielding. Even at the reduced values that pulls ahead unless the fight is over especially quickly. It also speeds up his jungle a bit (in theory -- haven't played him yet) as you don't have to wait on your shield as often.

Some maths for late game. This is a massive buff to his early game btw with the scaling down by 1% but cooldown down by 6 at rank 2 which it is until level 12.

40% cdr naut with 4k hp as example

Cd from 10.8 to 7.2

Shield from 765 to 620

Duration is totally irrelevant because it should almost always break in fights if used correctly.

Shield per second from 71 to 86.

Another big part of this BUFF that most people are totally ignoring is that his shield is also an auto attack reset. More auto resets on one of the slowest attacking champions is a huge buff. Nautilus does damage with his autos at the half way point of his swing and he can cancel it immediately after the damage is dealt making it possible to do 2 autos in the time it normally takes to do 1.5 autos.
