What caused people to play the meta in Blind Pick?

I haven't played league of legends for a very long time. I'd say since season 3. Please forgive this potentially dumb question.

When I last played the game, blind pick was when people just picked whatever they wanted with no regard to the meta or team comp. Now when I came back, people are now calling their roles and locking in Teemo just triggers the rest of the team. Keep in mind it's blind pick. I mean, back in the day, no one cared, except the occasional jerk who would have gotten the experience he wanted playing draft or ranked.

What has changed to the game to make this happen? What got people focused on forming a team comp in blind pick, instead of just picking whatever like a while back. Why couldn't they go to draft mode?

Personally I don't find it a big deal, but I'm extremely curious.

Coming from a player that has played more blind pick in ranked, I'm not that concerned about team composition. It's the feeding that gets to me, and people who call roles they are horrible at. The 0/9 mid should have atlest practiced their champion in a bot game first. Now we lost because I didn't get to carry as Vladimir.

The playerbase became less casual, and more hardcore, and the game moved more and more focus on LCS, and now suddenly everyone wants to be a tryhard and play to win. TBH, if you want, you can still pick stuff like Teemo and what not. Just some people spoil everything and will flame you for no reason (although I don't think people generally consider Teemo as a troll pick, just really annoying.)

People that play meta only champions in blind don't like to play for fun and are to scared to do it in draft/ranked.

riot shoved pro play down everyone's throats as the best thing ever so now the majority think pro play or no play is the rule

It was like that in season 3 too, I have no idea why you think otherwise.
