What happened to Ekko?
Used to be one of my favorite champs. Then i come back from vacation and this guy is picked/banned 100% of games. I don't notice anything different in his kit so why did everyone start playing him?

Iceborn Gauntlet + Sunfire Cape + Grasp of the Undying.
Combined with his natural ability to weave in and out of team fights, allows for him to build full tank and still have an impact. Got nerfed pretty hard in recent patches, just waiting for sheep to follow. Last I checked, Fizz was abusing the items now.

Sorry, bro. It's cause your fav champ is an overloaded one. Ekko was abusing tank items brutally hard and curb-stomping everyone while remaining absurdly hard to kill. They nerfed it into the ground, but that hasn't caught on yet amongst a lot of players. Don't worry, he's still so stuffed full of utility that he's not BAD... you just need to wait for people to move onto other bans. No matter what the meta becomes, Ekko will fit into it because he does nearly EVERYTHING.
But why do they build tank ekko? I personally like going him with runic echoes, iceborn gauntlet and rest FULL AP. He has a very high burst if the combo is done correctly, and I LOVE to chunk the enemy's health.

Because he does obnoxious damage while building tank, has a huge stun, movement speed, low cd dash/blink, and his ult which needs no explanation.
