% max hp true damage, Just a question

So first off this doesn't go out to any champion, although there is only a few with it. Now I understand % hp physical damage you build armor and % hp magic you build MR and with normal true damage you build HP. the problem I have with % hp true damage is the fact that not matter what champion you play you will always take the same amount.

example- say theres an ability that does 10% max hp true damage, thats ends up being a 1/10 of anyone's health if you're zac with 6000 or a jinx with 1000 you will always lose 1/10 of your health.

My question is how is this a good game mechanic? There's no Items that reduce the damage and only one or two champs with an ability to cope with it (going untargetable like vlad or fizz, and tryndamere can ult to not die, etc.)

Assuming you're talking about Vayne, there are counters. Items that slow her attack speed hurt her ( item 3110 item 3143 ). Also, armor still helps against her because it lowers the damage from her basic attacks. Champs that have %HP typically have weaknesses to counter it. IE, Vayne has the range of a 4 year old with a slingshot with no poking or wave clear abilities.

Vayne has to shoot you 27x consecutively to kill you with only true damage. If youre dumb enough to get shot 27x in a row by Vayne you deserve to die.

It's healthy in the sense that it's meant to impact tanks much more than it does squishy targets. That 3000 HP Zac is going to feel that loss much more than a squishy Jinx will because the 10 %hp will do less damage to her than a full combo from a different carry or assassin.

As an example, a fully loaded Varus Q in the midgame will do 400 damage alone just with an infinity edge. That 10% max hp will only deal 120 damage, however. Basically, picking %hp damage means your making the conscious choice (or picking a champion) that wants to burn down the front line rather than focusing the priority targets. If the numbers get too high it can quickly become unbalanced, though.

Im a vayne main and i can say theres nothign harder to kill than a 450 armor chogath who has frozen heart, randuins omen, and thornmail and tabis. A nasus with similar stats would be impossible to kill as he also has his wither. (Fortunately as of the rageblade changes, it's more effective for armor pen than last whisperer could have every hoped to be.)

Technically %health true damage is countered by heavy sustain, in practise you don't lifesteal through a vayne or a Fiora ever.
