Why Bottom Three Picks Get Bans?

Why is it that the bottom three players get a ban each? Doesn't it make more sense to give top three players the bans to compensate for being easily countered?

The reasoning was that the first two have the potential to pick OPs (either for themselves or to trade) or other contested picks, and they wanted to spread bans out so they weren't all on the first pick so there was some shared responsibility. So in a world of potential OPs, the first two have the responsibility to pick them, and the last 3 have responsibility to ban them.

In practice it often just ends up people picking for themselves at risk of being counter picked though, and sometimes the ban-ers just ban their personal counters instead of the big picture problem champs.

This whole season doesnt make any sense.

Top 2 people can pick the OP champs first.

That would make sense but assuming your team plays like it's supposed to, you can just ask for those bans. Not a needed change.

It was like that before. Last pick usually afk'd for like 5 minutes. Before new champ select, they also had last choice in roles. It was a tripple screwover for last picks. Last choice of role, last choice of champ, no say in bans. They literally got nothing, because getting to counterpick as support wasn't very effective.

I do think 1 ban for everyone would be better though.

Its league of broken champions, broken champions don't have counter picks just play you can massively outskill them

Doesn't it make even more sense to give everyone one ban so it's fair?

The top two already get to secure high priority picks is why. It doesn't affect a person getting countered because, I don't know, you could just ask for specific bans?

Another reason being people that are later picks at times have to pick a champion just to make a more balanced team. Having to pick a mage top to not have all AD team or Tank support to have at least 1 front line champion.

The bans are used as an afk check. Before this season last pick would tab out and not pick until the very last moment without paying attention to team comp or anything like that.
