Feel free to skip to the second paragraph this is just covering what I think. Note: Section on PBE nerfs at bottom of post.

Hello. This is my first real board post on balance because as all of you know, Riot knows a lot on that topic. Now let's discuss about the strongest mid by far at the moment; Ahri . This is absolutely ridiculous. Now I have mixed feelings on this. Ahri was my first champion. Scroll down to the bottom of my match history and you'll see. There has been a lot of times where I've mained her and I've haven't, but now I'm maining her for obvious reasons. But on the other hand, I don't want her permabanned like my other main Akali has been for the past 2 patches. Now to the point, Ahri needs nerfs. But she should not be nerfed based on her mobility. She's not OP because she's ungankable without a CC jungler. She's OP because she's ungankable without a CC jungler and still does the same damage she used to. I don't know much on Riot's views, but many people from the balance team(Scarizard mostly) has stated that they value Champion Diversity and Player Experience(cough) the most. So nerfing Ahri's MS is a big no-no. Now some of you might be asking why, but nerfing Ahri's Q MS would make her a skillshot Annie . Please. She was a skillshotAnnie once. Now she's a mobile mage. Don't make her a skillshot Annie again.

Now getting into how Ahri should be approached. Now Riot has said that their goals in Champ balance is making everyone strong in their own way. Let's see how Ahri is strong:

Pros Mobile before 6, unkillable after 6 if you don't have a stun Good wave clear Decent Poke High Kill Potential High Roam Potential High Bully Potential(VS Short-Melee ranged) Decent CC Initiate Good catch RIDICULOUS DAMAGE High skill cap(way higher than before) Good outplays

Cons Struggles against Champions that outburst her like Syndra (Even more than before) Falls off harder than before if behind

And here's how she used to be

Pros THE most mobile Champion(except maybe Leblanc)if her R is up. Good burst(esp. in late game against squishies) Good roam Decent kill potential Decent CC initiate Can explode squishies with DFG High skill cap Decent outplays

Cons Immobile without R Semi-reliant on DFG Struggles against Champions that outburst her Hard to master(sort of falls into the pro high skill cap)

Now as you can see she is ridiculous right now(obvious much) as she is mobile both before and after 6. This is not bad, this is good Champion design as making her the most mobile Mage(Leblanc doesn't count as a mage really) right now is supporting Champ diversity. But to compensate she should not have nearly as much burst AND sustain damage as Annie right now (she currently has the same if not more than her). So overall while the buffs were really helping her not be a mobile Veigar/skillshot Annie, they overdid it mostly with her W. They should return her W to the original value or perhaps slightly more than the original value. This would be a similar approach to the Lee Sin E nerf back in the patch where they nerfed the 4 best junglers(don't remember which patch) as they are nerfing the Champion, but keeping it strong in its unique way. On the other hand, they should also slightly nerf the E hitbox as the combination of all 4 skills means that right now a jungler ganking with less than 100% hp is a kill for Ahri.

TL;DR Nerf W to original or more than original, than maybe nerf Charm hitbox if it's not enough. This would make her not so OP but still keep her strong in her own way.

Okay, the PBE nerfs are just stupid in everyway, I'm just gonna make a list of everything wrong with them:

Ahri is crap now because her mana problems are ridiculous

W is nonexistant, you literally need to be in melee range for all 3 fires to go to a single target making her most effective position being in the middle of the enemy team so the fires spread(dumb concept). I'd rather you nerf the damage harder and revert the CD buff rather than nerf the range. cough remember when Diana's R got nerfed? :D cough

Another idea for how to nerf Ahri is to nerf the Q MS, but make it so the MS scales, so by rank 5 it should be the MS currently live. Another idea I got from a reddit post is to cause the Q MS to scale with R rank. Either way, Riot should gut her early game slightly, but NOT make her have a nonexistant W and give her mana problems worse than Kog'Maw and Swain.

I think they should probably wait a little bit longer before issuing the nerfs, I don't want them to over-nerf her because the community simply hasn't adjusted to fighting a suddenly brand new champ, but she should definitely be tuned down a bit, and that's coming from somebody who semi-mains her.

I LOVE the change to her Q, I think it works perfectly for her, a mobile mage shouldn't have her only mobility on a minute+ cooldown, and alone is more than enough of a buff to compensate for DFG and Charm Amp being gone. I think, more or less, they should revert the damage changes to both W and E to previous values, maybe not the E base damage change though, it's nice to finally have it do damage. Makes getting that last melee minion possible.

I don't think the utility change to her R was necessary, I never had any issues with it in the first place for wall dashing. As for the faster shot-time on her W, I like it but if it was reverted I wouldn't be too sad.

As for a nerf to her E hitbox? An interesting idea but I don't think it would solve anything in a meaningful way.

... But that's all just my two cents, I'm no plat and I mostly play Treeline lately anyways.

High skill cap(way higher than before)

And then all the Assassin lovers will come in and continue to insist she takes less skill because she's no longer an assassin.
