Can someone explain to me how the new warwick is stronger than the old warwick?

Just made a discussion, deleted it, seen a reply by someone I wanted to reply to. How is new Warwick stronger than Old Warwick?

He has a stronger Attack Speed Buff for himself, once the enemy champion is below a health threshold, but the old Warwick had a team-wide Attack Speed buff for the entire fight.

He has a Movement speed buff on champions at low health, or he can channel said movement speed, both of which alert the enemy team immediately that you're coming to gank them. While the old Warwick could get in close, without them knowing, then pop it instantly to chase them down.

His Q used to be a non-skill shot, but now it's a strange skill-shot, with seemingly no indicator.

His ultimate is also a lot harder to land and seemingly does not suppress or do as much as it did before.

So.. How is the new Warwick better than the old Warwick? A 1 second fear at all levels, locked on Global Cooldown does not make up for a huge team-wide attack speed buff, at all health percentages for the entire fight.

What good is a gap closer on his Q, if he and his team does less damage?

He became a successful dualist with innate sustain, damage reduction, cc, sticking power, movespeed amp and mixed damage. And a huge gapcloser ult. With a kit that is both basic and with a good skill ceiling. Versatility in kit-use. Something he didn't have before. No part of his kit required thinking or timing before. Now, there is some finesse to em.

Old WW was mostly an ult-bot ganker. And that was only fun for patch 4.20.

He is more useful to the team early and mid game

Warwicks a lot stronger than he was before

you can teach an old dog new tricks, the E damage reduction gets pretty crazy for a duelist, it's shen levels of damage reduction flat. an added fear to make an impact in fights. He bring a shitton of damage since his q does magic damage and applies on hit effects with % max health damage.

and most importantly, he isn't ultimate reliant to do ANYTHING now.

Haven't really thought about this. He now has a taunt, other than that his abilities are nearly all the same. His ult is made a bit trickier, other than that it has the same affect. They kinda just made him more badass.

Pretty dumb assumptions if you ask me.

The point wasn't to make him stronger, it was to make him interesting. Before he was a right click champion with a couple targeted left click spells. Now he has skill shots, a unique Q that punishes mobility if timed properly, aoe fear, and a nice hunt mechanic that retains the old, wounded prey mechanic as well as a long cd, new hunt mechanic that doesn't simply reveal in a 1 dimensional manner but requires interaction on the side of Warwick by following a blood trail.

Thematically, aside from Sion, I'd say new Warwick is one of their best thematic reworks.

Back in those days, he kinda just ran out of the jungle, had a bite, and then ran back into the forest. New WW can actually gank pre-6 now, so that's something.

Also, his kit got 10 times more annoying to use now, with the stupid red-inking on the screen, the constant screeching and babbling (like, there's so much of that it really becomes annoying), to the clunky Q and the needle-thin R hitbox. While the new WW is theoretically a pretty solid rework and fixed many problems he used to have, but he just doesn't play well for me. I dropped him after a couple tries after the rework, sad aye.

He is not stronger.

however, WW in the past was a rather binary, boring champion who could be niche picked to mess up "I outplay you" champions with his BS ult, or to out-stat less potent AA champions. Calling him an ult bot is only an exaggeration in the sense that he also had a rather nice AS aura to contribute.

WW today is a fun champion with a fluid kit and an enjoyable theme that people like to play.
