Riot should throw a bone to one-trick players regarding Hextech Chests from S ranks.

For every chest you earn on a champion, it takes double the number of S rank games to earn the next. But only the first S rank chest can be earned with a queue partner.

For example, after your first S rank chest on a champion, it would take 2 S rank games to earn the next. The maximum number of S Rank games to earn a chest would be 8 (so the fourth chest and all after that).

And don't give me "but you get to climb with said champion" because I only play Ranked to Gold 5 and quit because it's not worth the stress. It is not a valid excuse to deny rewards to someone playing a smaller variety of champions.

This has very little to do with the actual 'proposition' of this post but I'm just really curious to ask someone who seems to be a one-tricker:

How do you one-trickers (whether you personally or in general) stay with a single champion for so long? I think the highest MR I have on any one champion is Lee Sin who I have just under 150k (which is nothing compared to one tricks). I seriously cannot play anyone for more than let's say either 10 games or 4 days (whichever is met first usually), I end up getting bored of such repetition and usually seek out someone else to play. I still have a pool of let's say 20 champions I'll cycle around and there are usually maybe 40 champions I'll never touch but just the idea of playing one champion for, let's say 90%+ of my games to me sounds like a recipe for boredom. I mean, I have played for a while and I've just about got comfortable with top, jungle and support, and I'm only just coming across being comfortable in mid (ADC's yet to come to me) but I seriously can't play LoL without diversity in gameplay.

So how do you one-trickers maintain that level off consistency in love of a certain champion you main? There's always a pool of champions I instinctively go to but never just one.

I believe it mostly has to do between two major factors, personality and play style.

I personally don't like switching between multiple characters when I play a game. So for MMOs such as World of Warcraft and Phantasy Star Online, I will pick one character and stick with them like light caught in a black hole. A similar case goes for League champs, but due to the need of having secondary roles, I have mastery for a small handful of champs. This would be an example of play style, where you can use one tool in omni style even if it wasn't designed for it.

Personality wise, I just don't like switching things up too often. Call this addictive personality if you will, but it's how I can regularly enjoy a champion by playing her/him more often. It also makes the more epic plays feel even more epic because you feel like you've done something that only comes from knowing the ins, outs and nuances of your champion/character of choice. For example, I've mastered Death Knights (Blood specifically) to where I will tank many elites mobs of my level (no bosses) and eventually kill all of them. And I can still tank the hell out of a few bosses plus tons of added mobs.

Does that help?

I guess it sheds some insight, I guess it's different goals in LoL, one-trickers mostly one-trick for from from progress whereas a casual normie like me play a diverse amount of champions for the fun from diversity

EDIT: Oh wow yeah, I guess I'll admit it, I don't care about progress in LoL lmao I'm a proud Bronze 5 who gave up on ranked xD

In that regard; I find it progress to see that I, as a one trick of a champion, am suddenly beating out my counters regularly.

I am suddenly beating out my counters regularly.

You know what a normal casual like me does when I'm up against a counter?

I feel accomplished just by surviving laning phase...

Some people just has a very specific type of playstyle and don't mind playing that same thing every single game.

It's just that simple.

I thought Riot has long been discouraging people to onetrick, so I actually doubt they would consider anything for us.

Not a bad idea, though.

I know, but they also enabled getting S ranks from having players queued with you. I figured this would be a reasonable substitute since friends can earn you S ranks on champs you don't normally play.
