MMR Matching is nuts

Hi, I just recently hit 30 and started ranked, I went 3-7 in my placements and got placed in bronze 1, I had a decent winning streak going and got to silver I but now I cant get to gold cause I keep losing my promo because when I ranked its matching me against Platinum level players, Sometimes platinum 1 and 2 people on the entire enemy team. When I play a normal game to relax it matches me against Diamond 1 and 2 players. Can someone tell me what the heck is going on? At this rate i will be stuck in silver forever.

I basically have to win at a Diamond player level to get out of silver and get gold? How is that fair in any way at all? Can someone please explain? Thx.

The reason you are playing such high level players in ranked is because your mmr is much higher than average for your rank. http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=masterofveigar. quick look at op.na.gg shows your about 2 divisions higher than your current rank. So even though your rank says your Gold 5, when you are being matched for games the system is using your mmr of around a gold 3 level.
