In mourning
I'm in mourning for the game that I used to love. I wish that there was a copy of any of the older versions somewhere available so I could play it with my friends. I miss the old days when towers mattered and a team could recover from a disastrous start. I miss the games where teams were evenly matched and the longer the game went the more teams had to think and plan to invent creative strategies that could really pay off. LOL knows their clientele and apparently my friends and I aren't them. The players LOL wants are the young, short attention span crowd who don't care about elegant solutions or heroic comebacks. They want a quick win and they're not really interested in the satisfying victory after facing an equally wily and tenacious enemy in a long game. Now, wins aren't even fun. I feel that there's some criteria built into the programming that decides one team is the winner and sets up the opposing team for certain defeat. Not even an ace and an inhibitor down on the soon-to-be victorious team makes a whit of difference. The game has decided, you might as well surrender. So, I'm in mourning. I'm in mourning that the LOL players coming up who will never experience the game as it once was. I'm in mourning that the thoughtful, strategy driven player is not really wanted anymore. The short game presently being promoted is just another game. It's not the special, unique game it once was. Boy, was it was fun while it lasted!
