Ranked 3v3 needs serious matchmaking update

3v3 is my favorite gamemode, and has been for years (close to 2500 games), but the matchmaking is utterly atrocious. 3v3 is a different gamemode from 5v5, has a different map, a different gameplay style (altars), and yet it's treated like a side project that was forgotten about after the map remake.

I got up to diamond just solo queueing, and ended up decaying to plat 1 0LP for 1 reason: the matchmaking. Almost every single game (in diamond) had at least 1 gold 5 or even SILVER player. And yes, I mean their 3v3 ranking is silver, their 5v5 rank should not at all be relevant. There is no reason for a diamond player to see a silver in their ranked games. I hit Plat 1 with a 75% winrate and started seeing this almost every single game, dropping me to about a 55% winrate.

Why is this gamemode overlooked? It's fun, it's different, it's permanent, and it's competitive. Why is the matchmaking worse than normal queue, and why does this map get ignored?

Hi Dreadkarp,

I also have noticed some SERIOUS issues with the matchmake system in League, so I completely understand your frustration. I am experiencing similar issues in unranked games, where I (level 30, unranked) am matched up with and against diamonds, platinums, and high golds. Even when I play on an account that hasn't even reached level 30 yet, it's the exact same thing.

Why are people with such** huge differences** in rank being matched up?!? It makes no sense to me whatsoever. For people like you, it creates serious issues because those low rank people are not yet on the same skill level as you and cannot keep up. For people like me, I feel like I am being smacked in the face over and over again.

The most frustrating thing about all of this is that I can't really do anything about this. It's not like an item I can research or a champion I can ban.

Please, League/Riot, check or fix the queue system!!!

I feel like with normal queues about it's more about quantity than anything. They'd rather have shorter queue times than healthier games. I've seen sub-level 30 players in games with multiple challengers. It's not just NA, either. I play on multiple servers. I used to wait 10-20 minutes for a plat 1 game and would have golds in it. Now I'm waiting 2 minutes and have silvers and no players in platinum. It's insane.
