Yes, I have noticed, and I have no idea why you're getting downvoted. Data at plat+ elo is pretty clear that coin is weak. I haven't seen anyone take it (I'm in high gold atm) in weeks.
I'm tempted to start because the relic line quest is just god-awful, but I can't bring myself to do it because I know it's an instant handicap.
Why shouldnt you be getting poked down by enchanters? Supports are supposed to do more than most ADCs early.
Coin needs to give more mana now, and be the option for sustain in the laning phase.
Currently, it's not viable and is outclassed by the other two options.
Increasing the mana gain would make Coin significantly more attractive without straight up busting it.
The ONLY advantage it has now is that it allows you to get to warding sooner.
Also, Losing the health or AP from the other support items essentially nullifies your impact in the early laning phase. If you don't have health, you can't sustain from harass, and if you dont have the AP, you can't really provide peel or harass.
I still take coin; it honestly gives the most income, I always finish my quest before the other support. I'll trade off the stats spellthief's gives for getting my vision sooner; handicap in lane but vision wins games imo.
thats because upgraded version doesnt give enough compared to spell theifs and the support gold quest is trash rn as if you are behind you realy cant ward but it is especially hard on thresh if you go relic cause you really wont finish unless you are a god at last hitting and even then its still hard to finish the quest
It's funny because I've only just recently turned to using Coin on Taric instead of Targon's for the mana sustain, ever since the PoM nerfs messed him up.

Spellthief was a recommended choice for most enchanters. But coin was at least viable due to very useful active after full upgrade. Or before it got changed by providing safe source of gold income and a bit of healing without requiring you to take risks. Now its all completely wasted. There simply no reason to pick coin if you are capable of poking or taking targon.
