A matchmaking question

Hi guys, I'm currently gold 5 with a silver 2/3 MMR (dropped after I started trying to play "meta" champs and went on a tilting spree) . Now that i'm back to playing my main (lord dunkrius) , the one i used to climb through silver , i'm finding that almost every game i have to hard carry to win , like everytime bot and mid are pretty far behind in the early game , and the only way to win is to get an early advantage and roam. Now it happens pretty much all the time , so I'm wondering if the matchmaking system purposely makes me team up with players who are worse than the ones i'm playing against (because my mmr is bad) or it's just a really bad coincidence ? Has anybody ever had a similar experience of having mmr lower than your actual elo ?
